Okay here's my take on Hatari's new single and music video.
I love it, loved it since I heard it on a bootleg video taken at Iceland Airwaves last year; the lyrics really resonate with my view of social media and the porn industry.
I don't think the MV is actual AI. They have been making trippy visuals since Neysluvara (see the mv for X), and I'm pretty sure there are actual actors in the video. I wouldn't be surprised if they were fucking with us, making us think that they used AI filters and AI generators for the images when someone (or a team) actually did all the trippy and uncomfortable editing by hand. Their "label" - the youtube channel where their MVs are posted is called something along the lines of "Scam Inc."
Sure it looks very much like AI. But that's the point. If you pay attention to the lyrics and add the context of the band and everything around it, you'll realize that the fx are meant to make the viewer uncomfortable; especially those who hate AI-generated images.
I have so much to say about this MV but I'm not sure I can make sense right now so it'll have to wait, but I might rewatch it and make a full analysis of it.
Hatari as a whole are subversive artists who try to challenge your world view with every new song they make. It's not just Matthías' peculiar poetry that you were meant to pay attention to, but the whole band's (and collaborators, especially since new member Davið is Svarti Laxness) artistic contributions.
