The King-Langdons
if mel and langdon aren’t heading towards a slowburn bestfriends to lovers arc then why have their scenes parallel each other (‘you okay?’ ‘the er can be a little bright and noisy’ etc)? why bring up langdon’s marriage 24/7 and highlight the problems within it? why push the point in season one that langdon understands mel king’s needs (after only a couple hours together) while simultaneously highlighting that he doesn’t understand his own wife’s needs? why show the strain on their relationship over and over in season one before the substance abuse/rehab is even on the table? why have him act weird when abby is mentioned? why have him reveal that abby threatened to divorce him & that almost lost his kids, not that he almost lost the love of his life because of his addiction? why have becca ask if mel’s found a boyfriend yet if that’s not going to be explored? why have frank be the only one mel trusts to treat becca? why show becca and frank bonding? why have becca tell frank that mel says nice things about him? why have her explicitly use present tense and not past? why have her say that at all when mel only spent twelve hours with him some ten months ago? why have becca say she understands why she likes him and have mel look totally embarrassed and called the fuck out? why have frank be the only person in the goddamn hospital who actually listens to mel and challenges her whilst still validating her feelings? why show two people who are feeling isolated, lonely and battered by life, needing the one thing that the other can offer (frank wants someone to care for, mel wants to be cared for)? why have a plotline showcasing mel’s fears about her sister’s newfound independence and of being left behind (‘i’m gonna be all alone’) while also highlighting langdon’s loneliness in rehab (‘10 months is a long time alone with your thoughts’)? why have mel almost hug langdon when he comes back? why give them so many callbacks to their earlier interactions? why give them an ‘inside thing’ when they’ve known each other less than 24 hours? why have them smiling once in a blue moon and nine times out of ten it’s when they’re together? why have her be the person saying exactly what langdon needs hear (‘i let a lot of people down’ ‘you never let me down’)? why randomly take the time to mention mel’s niche interest in the renaissance fair (and have the one guy who’s shown romantic interest in her put her down for that interest) only to have have frank a few episodes later gush over the the fort pitt history museum with stars in his eyes (that adds literally nothing to the plotline except weirdly show that mel and frank are both history nerds)? why have frank looking at mel like That? why have mel looking at frank like That? why? why? WHY?
Couldn't have said it better myself

sometimes you need dialogue tags and don't want to use the same four
For anyone who needs this

I’m also a huge fan of this website here! It has little go-to buttons to jump to the category you want!

THE PITT 02x09 vs 02x10
But when he walks in,
I am loved, I am loved
Me and my husband.
We are doing better.
The Pitt S3 is the day Emma Nolan finds out that Dr. Langdon's wife isn't Dr. King.
She doesn't know in retrospect when this impression came about. She knows no one told her this, it was just a series of unfortunate instances and phrasings.
Like one day in her first month, Langdon interrupted a conversation with a "Sorry, I actually need to check in with my wife about something before midday." and then walked off, and started talking to Dr. King. But at that point she had already thought they were a couple for several weeks and now that she's dissecting the memories, nothing actually happened to suggest it, it's not like they're touchy or anything, it just... it was the impression she got at some point.
And in S3, Mel asks where Dr. Langdon is, and Emma ducks into the break room when she spots him and says "Dr. Langdon, your wife is looking for you." And all the blood drains from his face. "She is?"
"Yes, I don't think it's an emergency," Emma assures him quickly, and he's rushing out the door, looking around the hub. Emma was heading that was as well, so when she catches up with him he asks where his wife is. And Emma, poor Emma, points at Dr. King at one of the computers.
Remember when Dana told Langdon that Abby didn’t need a new dog, she needed a vacation.
And then Langdon volunteered to work a 12 hour shift on the Fourth of July, leaving Abby to take care of their two young kids during a holiday that is notorious for overstimulating children.
And while he is at work, Frank goes out of his way to prove to Mel that he remembers everything about the first and only time that they worked together 10 months ago by being extra attentive to her needs when she is stressed out.
While at the same time, the show makes absolutely no attempt to even suggest that Frank has contacted Abby to let her know that he will be home 3+ hours late from a shift that he wasn’t even required to work.
We don't always get everything right the first time.
