An Irrational Fear

One of my irrational fears is there being an emergency and I am unable to do anything to save my pet fishes. It scares me to think of having to leave them as our house is engulfed in flames or as the walls and roof crash down and my fishes can't save themselves.

Maybe it comes from knowing what it feels like being trapped with nowhere to go as flames engulf you; knowing what it feels having nothing you can do as chaos surrounds you. I know it all too well what it feels like accepting that the only thing you can do is die. I know what it feels like having no one able to save you - they're there, they just have nothing they can do. Life is truly cruel.

In the situation with my fishes - if ever an inevitable were to come - I'd rather stay behind and perish with them. Atleast then they'd know there was someone who stayed; atleast they'd know they weren't alone.

Maybe that's all I want: someone who'd stay; someone who'd let me know I'm not alone as the world burns down to the ground. Someone who wouldn't leave when I am inevitably unable to save myself.
