Exactly. I just had to go in and clear a bunch of things that they didn’t delete. I’m not trying to get my account terminated.

NBC is allowed to hate fun, but they should know that they’re digging themselves a deep hole. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually lost the rights to the Olympics after the next few quads.

That’s what I did. I saved mine in my drafts but I’m still pissed.

The name under “copyright holder” in both my emails of notice was a “Jonathan Friend” but that name sounds so generic and ambiguous that I’m not even going to bother googling it to see if it’s associated with anything like the IOC or NBC. That and the copyright holder when YT videos get taken down is the IOC rather than NBC but it could easily just be NBC taking them down and saying it’s the IOC (insert something about licensing and NBC here) because when it’s not the Olympics they’ll usually be the ones acting anyway under names like “Universal Sports” or “nbcolympics2012”.

To be honest something like this has every reason to make the rounds in the media if it *IS* NBC because of how international sites like Tumblr are.

The IOC and NBC have gotten even worse regarding copyright, banning GIFs of Olympics coverage. There is no way we can monetize our GIFs for the “ambush advertising” that the IOC is so afraid of. Even brands sponsoring individual athletes, and not the Olympics as a whole, are getting in trouble for posting similar things.

Everything that’s getting removed now is grouped together and counts as one strike. If we repost in a few months and then they get removed again, that’ll count as a second strike. This is a mess.
