Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver except it’s playing from your neighbor’s radio that you can hear from your back porch, which you sit out on to relax in spite of the loud buzzing from the lightbulb and the hoards of moths that flock to it on summer evenings like this.
Anyone: u ok Me; yeah just thinking about how I’ll never be this young again and about how most of my youth has been lost to depression loneliness and self doubt lol
the government, watching me from the cameras: “the lack of motivation on this girl. incredible.”
also the government, watching me reblog this: "oh my god, it has become self aware!!"
my brain, while trying to go to sleep: You know what we need???? SAD MUSIC.
is this what the kids are listening to these days?
I saw this on Instagram, and it was absolutely necessary that I come find it on here and reblog it.

When You Cannot Accept
I thought I had this figured out, I thought I would make it through the rest with acceptance alone. Now I see how wrong I was. It has continually proved a challenge to accept the things I do not want to accept, and today I have failed.

Acceptance.
Don't spend the rest of your life being sad about the questions without answers. Don't waste time wishing to change what you cannot. Don't worry about the things you can't control. Don't let your problems become who you are.
Spend your life in wonder and awe over all of the universe's possibilities and be amazed by it's beauty. Let go of what has happened and make the future your own. Look past the violence and cruelty of this world in order do whatever you can to make things better for yourself and those around you. Keep growing, keep changing, keep learning and try not to lose sight of what matters.
Accept life for what it is: imperfect, unknowable, sometimes uncontrollable, filled to the brim with good and bad... "Mixed".
Accept this and choose to live.
My Experiences with Sensory Overload
The first time I wrote this I tried to make it sound professional and end on a good note, but there was a fault with the app/my phone, it got deleted, and I realized that although it sounded nice I wasn't that upset because it wasn't how I really felt. So here's the revised version--keep in mind I'm not a professional, and this post isn't specifically intended for help/advice, it's just my experience.
Simply put, sensory overload is when the things you sense (sight, sound, touch, etc.) suddenly feel overwhelming, often causing things like disorientation, irritability, anxiety, 'withdrawal' from the present moment, and many other symptoms. It's like suddenly everything is much too bright, loud, hot, etc. making it difficult to focus, think, or function when what causes it isn't something that would normally bother someone to that extent.
Sensory overload and anxiety are strongly linked, that's certain. For me, I think the anxiety came first and the sensory overload is a symptom. My thoughts start to race, other physical symptoms present themselves, and then what's going on around me suddenly pushes me over the edge--it's too hot and I get angry because I can't think or calm down and I feel like a child, or I'm trying to use a coping skill but all I can seem to focus on is how the room is too loud or too bright. The worst time I've had with it so far was on a particularly rough and emotional night; just the feeling of gravity pushing me into my bed, and the sheets over me was too much, and it made everything much worse. At a certain point, it reversed itself--being overwhelmed by a bunch of different things happening will now sometimes cause anxiety attacks.
I didn't have a name for it initially, or rather I had forgotten the term (I had heard it before, never knowing it's true meaning), but one day I was thinking about how I would be able to describe it; when the word "senses" came into my thought process I remembered it and was able to look up the definition. Many of the coping skills I've been given for anxiety worked for my sensory overload as well, but by knowing what it was called I was able to find some more specific advice. I'd encourage anyone reading and dealing with similar experiences to do research on coping skills as well, or see a professional (there are plenty of people out there who really want to help). Find what or who works best for you.
Overall, dealing with it often makes me feel helpless, hopeless, anxious, depressed and sometimes humiliated, but I'm counting on the fact that it'll get better eventually. That is all.
When the seasons change... Part 2
...it always means something comes to an end. Winter must end for spring to begin, spring must end for summer to begin, and so on.
When applied to the metaphor in part one, this means that my youth must end for my journey into adulthood to begin. I want to be excited for this, although obviously there are elements of fear present; those things aside, it seems like all I can see in this transition is the end. The feeling of being unfulfilled and unhappy with the things I can't change about my youth has made it seem like when it comes to an end, that will be it and I'll be left unhappy forever.
That couldn't be further from the truth. (Assuming I'm still alive) I need to remember that there's more to my life yet to come. This isn't all there is. Wishing to change my youth when the chance to make my whole life is sitting right in front of me would be foolish.
Loneliness isn’t just a fleeting feeling, leaving us sad for a few hours to a few days. Research in recent years suggests that for many people loneliness is more like a chronic ache, affecting their daily lives and sense of well-being.
Now a nationwide survey by the health insurer Cigna underscores that. It finds that loneliness is widespread in America, with nearly 50 percent of respondents reporting that they feel alone or left out always or sometimes.
Using one of the best-known tools for measuring loneliness — the UCLA Loneliness Scale — Cigna surveyed 20,000 adults online across the country ages 18 and above. The UCLA tool uses a series of statements and a formula to calculate a loneliness score based on responses. People scoring between 20 and 80 on the UCLA scale are considered lonely, with a higher score suggesting a greater level of loneliness and social isolation.
More than half of survey respondents — 54 percent — said they always or sometimes feel that no one knows them well. Fifty-six percent reported they sometimes or always felt like the people around them “are not necessarily with them.” And 2 in 5 felt like “they lack companionship,” that their “relationships aren’t meaningful” and that they “are isolated from others.”

Hi :) I just wanted to tell you that if you’re interested in MBTI you have to be careful. The big problem is that everything you find online that’s based on the famous "function stacks" is wrong, and it only works as a source of confusion and mistypes. The stacks’ "functions" are actually superficial traits that go with combinations of letters ("Se" as SP traits, "Ne" as NP traits, etc), not with the real functions (I write about this in my blog). Anyway, I thought I’d tell you about it :)
Thanks for the advice! I was aware of this, I just haven’t looked into it that far as of yet.
Alone
No matter who you are, where you are, or what you believe, you will be alone. You may know people, love people, share your significant thoughts and moments with people, but you are alone. Within your own mind you will always be alone. Alone with yourself, that is.
To me, this is the scariest part of life. To know that no matter how well someone may know you, they will never truly understand you because they are not you, and vice versa. How once something gets inside your head, especially something you don't like, you're not allowed to leave it behind to find a new one.
When the seasons change...
...I get these strange familiar feelings. To me, each season has a smell marking that very first day of change, and each season has different feelings associated with it. Today it smelled like summer for the first time this year, and after such a long winter--which often brings me reminders of dark memories and worsening depression--it was a relief.
As I contemplated these feelings of renewal, joy, and hope I realized how hopeless things had felt just a few months ago when I would walk alone through biting colds... But summer was always coming. I knew it would be here one day... What reason would I have to doubt that? Regardless, I was so consumed by the feelings of winter I never let that knowledge bring me comfort. Winter felt like it was lasting forever, as it always does, and as though it might never end... But I knew summer would come. I knew.
My youth has been like winter. It feels like it's been dragging on forever (of course, it's all I've ever known), like it will never end. It feels cold, empty, and lonely... but I know. I know that one day, one day soon, it will end. In just a year I'll start to feel the warm breezes of spring, the overlap of winter and summer, the increase in freedom... and then it'll be here.
Summer is on it's way.
