“There is no intensity of love or feeling that does not involve the risk of crippling hurt. It is a duty to take this risk, to love and feel without defense or reserve.”
— William S. Burroughs
“Make it a habit to think positive.”

That feeling of falling in love w life again after a long period on autopilot … absolutely ineffable. These days I try to linger a little while longer in patches of sunlight on cold winter mornings even when I’m on my way to things

And the generous heart does not forget anything it has loved!

But to have a true friend is better than being alone."

Before you get married, make sure you know this:
1. Sakinah (سَكِينَة) – Tranquility / Peace
Emotional and spiritual calm that spouses bring to each other. A sense of safety, comfort, and serenity in each other’s presence.
Marriage should be a refuge from life’s stresses, not a source of them.
2. Mawaddah (مَوَدَّة) – Love / Deep Affection
A deep, active, and compassionate love, not just romantic feelings. Includes care, kindness, and giving to one another.
It’s the bond that strengthens over time.
3. Rahmah (رَحْمَة) – Mercy / Compassion
Forgiveness, patience, and empathy in dealing with each other’s flaws. Especially needed when love might fluctuate or be tested.
A reminder to treat your spouse with gentleness, love and understanding, even in tough times.
And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.

Abu Sulaiman Ad-Darani said:
“And whoever is truthful (sincere) in abandoning a desire, Allah will remove it from his heart. And Allah is more Generous than to torture a heart with a desire that was left for Him (for the sake of Allah).”
[Al-Bidayah Wa An-Nihayah, 14/148–149]
"Healthy relationships are not built on fear, dependency, or control. They are built on respect, trust, and mutual growth".
Grief is a strange companion. Just when it seems you’re healing, it comes back with a new wave. It feels like you’re back at square one, but you’re not. Grief isn’t a straight line; it’s like peeling layers. With every layer, you uncover more, and with each uncovering, you grow in strength.
The best way through is patience, hope, and turning to Allah for constant help.
"Rabbi inni maghlubun fantasir."
(My Lord, I am overwhelmed, so help me.)
I recently read this about grief being a process and it really resonated. Grief is looked at as a process that we experience over time.
“The soul usually knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind.”
— Caroline Myss
“Let today be the day you love yourself enough to no longer just dream of a better life; let it be the day you act upon it.”
— Steve Maraboli
The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.
Ritu Ghatourey
“I hope that one day someone will make flowers grow in even the saddest parts of you.”

“The rain never apologizes for falling.
And really… what beauty is there in a sky that never breaks?
There’s no weakness in getting wet from within.
Weakness is pretending to be sunlight when you are entirely storm.”
