i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again. Jamie was a huge asshole for planting the poem in the cupcake. he knew Lottie was severely upset because he literally had to track her in the woods because she was crying and it was the anniversary of her mother‘s death and he still decided that this was a good day to try and trick her and test her to see whether she would cut out the Portman duties. What an arsehole.

i feel like rio, raphael, ollie and ellie take dress to impress very seriously. they all get very heated when the podium is 3 of almost the exact same outfit.

ollie doesn't have robux to pay for vip so he feels very disadvantaged.

ellie loves pose 28.

raphael tries to prove to the (probably) 9-year-olds that men can be fashionable, but he's never been on the podium with the masculine body type.

rio never fails to hit the splits on his way off the catwalk.

RWCH Readathon: Day 33

The Lost Princess - Prologue

This is the best dedication of all the books i love her

EMELIA

I love that each prologue starts with someone who isn't our "main pov" - Lottie

A quick recap of who emelia is, before we immediately get introduced to her personality

LIKE LOOK AT HER SHES THE BEST

Her father being disappointed that she is returned safe, then expecting things from her is so scary and her trying to satisfy his wanting by taking on hundreds of hobbies

I really appreciate that Emelia has been doing her own research. None of these children are letting Leviathan take over

I'm not religious and won't say I'm an expert. But Emelia having a headcovering (it looks like a Hiqab) as well as the emphasis on how important this act is for her implies that she is Muslim and thus the act of cutting her hair isn't just her rebelling against her father, its Haram (according to some scholars - and particularly because its as an act of rebellion), not allowed in Islamic belief.

Shaving your head in any circumstance (from my reading and what I learned in class) is particularly impermissible

Her viewing her hair as snakes, and thus separating her from her father and from Leviathan all at once is really good storytelling. Its simple, but tells us so so much about her character

I almost forget that phones exist in this world since they cant have them at rosewood

'4' in Japanese is 'shi' giving a tiny hint for readers when banshee is mentioned later that this "Riri" may be involved

I really like that this phone call is mysterious but it also shows how close these two are as friends. Its like we get to see a tiny snippet of a tv show we haven't unlocked yet

Anyway, as always i adore the prologue. It sets up the wider conflict without drawing too much attention to itself, and it opens the world beyond the sets already established!
