Grimshire, The Official Soundtrack
I'm thrilled, not only to have been the character portrait artist for Grimshire, but also to have designed the album art for the official sound track!
Commissioned by composer Cole Harmon, who wanted a manuscript/illuminated text inspired piece to represent the dark, but hopeful, tone of the game. Cole's music is incredible and I listened to some select pieces while I worked on this, I hope I was able to weave the flavour of the music throughout!
If you would like to get a high-rez background featuring this artwork and/ or purchase the delightfully moody music from this up-n-coming game, please visit Cole Hamon's bandcamp HERE!
Abundance - Grimshire
Grimshire is out now in Early Access!! [HERE] I am extremely grateful and immensely proud to share that I was the character portrait artist for the game (I drew the faces you see during character dialogue)!
I drew this to celebrate release day🥳! My Farmer, Daisy, hauling in the day's crops!
-----
PLEASE check out this game and wishlist it on Steam. It's a farm sim, but it does a number of things differently. It's a truly challenging game where the farm is intrinsic to the story and doesn't become merely a chore to be automated and forgotten. It also doesn't devolve into "Become an overnight zillionare by growing beets". A plague is ravaging the countryside and has cut you off from trade, your role as a farmer here matters. If you do not grow and raise food, the villagers will starve. If you do not preserve your food, it will spoil. If you do not balance the needs of herbivores and carnivores.....well, I'd honestly rather not find out.
I’ve been so locked in on Grimshire and felt it’d be fun to draw my farmer
Fortunately for him I’m a resource grinding fiend so my first blind play-through actually went fairly well 😈to be fair I did play on easy mode
Okay, so I might have gotten really into the game...
My grimshire character
My contribution to the Grimshire fandom
how it feels to be working yourself to the bone in grimshire to make sure nobody starves and that the ration deadlines are met so you don't get shaken down by pirates and then getting hit with a side quest from one of the villagers asking you to bring them a bouquet of wildflowers or some berries for their special jam
Me, looking at Grimshire:
Oh hey. an animal game about farming and plagues. I guess it has some kind of sickness/contagious mechanic like Plum Grove. Eh, I'll pass for a bit...
OH, IT'S ZOMBIES?! YOU'RE PROVIDING FOR A WHOLE TOWN?! STAKES IN A FARMING GAME???? *plays the demo*
I'M MAKING UP ANIMATICS FOR MY BUNNY CHARACTER I'M LISTENING TO DEVIL'S TRAIN HER GRANDFATHER GOT RABIES ONCE IN A CONTAINED EVENT AND SHE'S HEARD STORIES ABOUT IT FOR ALL HER LIFE. SITTING ON THE TRACKS WAITING FOR THE NIGHT TRAIN LOOKING DOWN THE ROAD AINT NEVER GONNA GO BACK
My Grimshire PCs
Easy mode Grimshire: Rascally fox makes friends and gathers flowers, then sees it all fall apart and die because nobody was prepared. Medium mode Grimshire: Hypercompetant bear pickles everything and saves the day. Hard mode Grimshire: Paranoid stoat runs around screaming "EVERYBODY START COLLECTING ROCKS OR WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!"
Welp
After 30 hours of gameplay, I really gotten into Grimshire so much that I had to kick my burnout's ass and make a little doodle comic.
This is literally my character - who is unfortunately the same color as Oliver but with a cream underbelly. But if we are all going to be honest, absolutely every single character in Grimshire has had the same thought with Mr. Gushitto here.
I am really enjoying grimshire so far. I don't care much for farming sims at this point of life, but having an actual stakes makes me feel way more invested and turns the game into very fun time and resource management. talking with the villagers is enjoyable too because with the story progression happening they have more interesting things to say, i.e. their opinions on current situation and politics. it makes the world real and relatable. I enjoy running around the town and hearing out people's opinions, like, "hey have you seen this shit??"
I haven't played Grimshire again, but when I do I'm going to play as a hamster next time.
I've been really into this game called Grimshire, so I'm doodling some fan art! Honestly, what a stellar game, I 100% recommend. I like the characters and love the vibe. It's a farming game but with stakes. Could be a lil stressful but easiest mode is there too. Also there are cute slug and moth critters ✨
