My biggest gripe with the way some people talk about the amazing digital circus is all the fucking theorists and youtube videos theorizing that tadc is not a silly animated internet series about digital cartoon clowns and shit but in actuality a secret arg with a super dark and disturbing plot that's hidden under a veneer of silly antics. and like

it's not. it's very much not that.

I honestly don't understand why people are pretending there's deep lore going on when the premise is just "people are trapped inside a silly computer program" and literally that's it. it's pretty open about everything (except what the computer program itself is, which will probably be the main mystery of the show) but it seems pretty dedicated to being a silly dark humor show first and a mystery second. and I like it for that! It doesn't need to be secretly dark for it to say things!

swear to god, Game Theory™ ruined how certain people ingest media because now when they see something that has a vaguely dark premise it HAS to be actually a series about a serial killer who murders children or how it's all actually hell or some shit and whatever silliness is going on is actually a veneer hiding the TRUE dark plot beneath it all and its just a distraction to throw us off.

it's gotten so bad that I've seen people call fucking ADVENTURE TIME a dark show! adventure time!!! the show about a fucking teenager and his shapeshifting dog defending a kingdom made of candy! People talk about the Lich and Golb like it has to be about something other than a coming of age story. and that's literally all it is, the lich and golb exist because the world has dark, cruel things in it and adventure time is supposed to be a representation of growing up, being mature, and learning to handle the worst in the world and living with the parts of yourself that go missing.

please just. im sure tadc is going to present it's themes quite clearly and you don't need to read super far into it. it's not an arg. it's a 20 minute pilot and people are already saying there's a dark subplot. there's not. just give it space please, you don't need to justify your enjoyment of something by saying the plots a trojan horse for something dark.

This is probably one of the most infuriating comics I have ever done. I had to go for a more "sketchy" style since doing all the slides in my usual super-clean-line art style would have taken a lot of time. I also did the colors very opaque to give a more serious tone.

Note: if you pay attention to the scale of the room and everything on it, you'll see that it is HUGE. Made on purpose to try to be consistent with the atmosphere of the show. I also did the plushies and figures kind of inaccurate to show how she may not remember quite well how the actual characters looked like.

I'm honestly still not sure of whether he would rip a drawing apart, so don't take it too seriously. Someone please ask @gooseworx if this was out of character for Jax or if he legit would do that lmao.
