My own music

I went out wit my best friend and his gf to dinner in my hometown. All of us are musically inclined and have performing experience so we eventually made our way into those kinds of conversations.

My friend and I have already committed to writing our own music when we get out of school, or maybe even sooner if we could. This has been our focus for months and are still debating and brainstorming about what kind of music we can do.

Our taste in music, especially mine, varry’s so much. I enjoy pop music and hip hop/rap as much as any person would, and then I also really like all the heavy rock, instrumental djent and shred and classic rock from the past decades.

You can tell that more genres are spilling into others which sounds amazing actually. The boarders are getting thinner and thinner, allowing more styles to get bigger and better. It’s almost inspiring

We love rock, EDM, rap and what else there may be.

What kind of music will come out of all of that might start soon, so here’s to creating some good shit

First night I saw Polyphia was about a week or two after I found them. Spent those two weeks preapering for their “LIT AF tour” and getting as much of their songs in. Those gifs are pretty much how we all ended up being when Finale came in lol.

the one problem i have with people my age and younger is that a lot of us do not have hands on hobbies. like i have spoken to so many people my age who go to work, go to school and then fuck around on their phone/computer for hours and then ???????? like no wonder ur depressed and have low confidence in urself. u need to get ur hands on something, feed those dopamine receptors! learn how to play guitar, garden, scrapbook, fucking make model trains. i don’t give a shit, MAKE SOMETHING!!

and then so people my age say to me ‘well—i can’t draw/paint/knit/etc. like you can. my stuff would be terrible.’ yeah, well duh—a part of developing skill is sucking at something and then practicing it over and over and over again until you suck less. u’ll have a hard time feeling lonely or bored when you can’t stop thinking abt a technique you want to try or something you want to make for someone else. making things has SAVED MY LIFE. it gave me a reason to keep living day after day when i wanted to die.

making things have improved my generational relationships (when i worked for the newspaper i would talk to customers abt jamming recipes or cross-stitch, one of my grandmas always gives me pattern books and tell me abt when she knitted things for mom, my other grandma is giving me a wedding quilt that HER grandma gave her 50 years ago because she knows i will appreciate it). it also got me likeminded friends who also make things.

take a ceramics class! pick up water colors, bake cakes! learn to work on cars! make soap. DO SOMETHING THAT DOESN’T INVOLVE STARING AT A SCREEN.

“Absolomb”

Aight so this is what I think was the first song I’ve heard from Periphery. Aside from there djent heavy riffs and screaming gutterals they are know to do, this is probably one of the more layed back songs. That doesn’t meant it’s not without complexity or anything memorable. It would be almost impossible to not get hooked by the intro’s catchy bass intro. I personally like more songs like this. Guterals can be distracting sometimes. So not worrying about that kind of gives the listener more to appreciate. Vocals are still amazing. Hats off to Spencer Sotelo with his unlimited vocal range.
