Imagine this: you’re a girl in her late 20’s who has recently became interested in house hunting shows on HGTV and she comes to a time in her life to start thinking about home buying, or maybe she’s just becoming her mother. She dreams of moving back to her hometown to reclaim the happiness of her childhood memories. She was only 9 when she moved from her hometown across the country back in 2009.
One evening she sits watching her show and wouldn’t you know it! They’re doing an episode on her hometown right where she grew up. Her heart aches with nostalgia as she sees so many familiar buildings and places. The trees she misses so much and the sandy beaches calling out to her. As the episode goes on and they’re showing the houses up for sale, this couple is looking for a townhome. Just like the townhome she grew up in.
Finally, the couple gets to the showing of their third townhome and to your surprise it’s the townhome you grew up in! How unexpected! It’s a little different than you remember but it’s still so familiar, like you were living there just yesterday. Suddenly the show takes a darker turn when the realtor has to disclose crimes that happened in the home. She discloses in 2009 in two people were brutally murdered in the home, a mother and daughter, by the mother’s boyfriend.
The show ends abruptly and you’re stuck remembering, with the faintest hint of nostalgia.
