Mental health is one of the issues that people wanted to share with others to make them informed. It is important as our physical health. People who are feeling and suffering from it are afraid to share or speak up about how they feel and society thinks of it as a stigma.
According to the World Health Organization, they define mental health is a "state of well-being in which an individual recognizes his or her potential, can manage with typical life challenges, can work successfully and fruitfully, and can contribute to his or her community."
Mental health also is the emotional and social well-being of a person where it has an impact on the way that person thinks, feels, and acts. It also has an impact on how one handles stress, interacts with others, and makes decisions.
Problems like school and work pressures, family issues, trauma or bad history, relationships, and physical health contribute to the existing mental illness or disorder, making them worse.
How to Cope with Mental Health Problems?
It is not easy to have mental health issues. I am one of the many persons in the world who have struggled with mental health problems. I was sulking in my bed, refusing to eat or lost in appetite, separating myself from the people I knew, and crying till I fall asleep are some of the things I do when I'm feeling anxious or depressed.
While our mental disorder clings to our minds, it is not good for them to stay longer. Here are the different things to do when one's are facing a mental health problem:
Take a break from social media
Talk to someone (family, friends etc.)
Anyone, regardless of age, social background, race, or gender, can be affected by a mental health disorder. It's important to recognize that everyone, at some point in their lives, may feel anxious and depressed. However, if your worry and depression are severe and occur regularly, you may be suffering from a severe mental disorder and should seek help.
Remember, your healthy mind is your asset. We need more and more about spreading awareness of mental health. We must eliminate the old stigmas around, or lack thereof, to discuss it with one another. We must continue to discuss mental health.
Don't let your thoughts eat you! Recovery is an evolution, not a miracle. Don't be ashamed, share you story!
