Skyrim was a product of its time, and that specific lineup of game devs. People are still playing it 15 years later. I'm still playing it. And I don't think Bethesda is capable of reproducing that kind of lightning in a bottle again, and they know it. And they're panicking, and they're desperately trying to stall as long as possible in the hope that the modding community keeps Skyrim going for another 15 years, and people will still be too busy replaying it to notice.
