bursting into tears every time you hear The Gulf Between Us after finishing episode 4 is normal, yes?
Kaneeka Forsyth 🤝 Happily Ever After
Dreaming of the outside world but choosing instead to stay as a compromise, and now feeling trapped in a cycle you can't find meaning in.
(Kaneeka gets to wear a fantasy dress without being isekai’d)
“Welcome home.”
MomoCon 2026 was the first time in a long time I’ve cosplayed outside of a LARP. Only about three folks recognized the character, but I got a lot of comments otherwise on how spooky it was. I’m pretty thrilled with how it turned out! Some of the details are lost in the photo (grunge on the pants/etc), but it still looks stellar and I’m proud of it.
(There were technically work boots on earlier in the day, but they started forming a gnarly blister and so, sneakers.)

It's tempting to get completely absorbed in the unhinged premise of Found, or to get caught-up in the chemistry and tension between leads Shanola Hampton and Mark Paul Gosseler. Many fans are intrigued by the potential of a dark romance between their characters, but if you don't take a moment to analyze it a little further you'll miss that something rare and unusual is happening on the show.
And that's a female character exploring her relationship with darkness in a way that's often reserved for male characters in shows like Hannibal, Interview With The Vampire or You.
As someone who has watched all four shows I often found myself wondering why don't we rarely see dynamics like this with women --I couldn't get into killing Eve-- and what I landed on was that well no one wants to see a woman in that kind of toxic dynamic with a man because of how frequently that happens IRL and the terrible consequences.
But Found manages to create this toxic dynamic by starting the story with its female lead in the position of power. She has Sir her former tormenter locked and chained in her basement. She controls his food, his entertainment, and his life. She has the power whether she feels it fully or not.
Starting the story this point levels what would otherwise be a very unlevel playing field and allows the story to linger in the tension and uncertainty of who Gabrielle Mosely is as a person. Whether or not she can heal from the trauma she suffered as teenager and integrate her dark and light sides or if she will be forever tormented and controlled by this aspect of herself.
I want to write a longer meta about this comparing these stories and the relationships between these characters and how fascinating it is to have a female character exploring her dark side on screen in this way. I have to watch the latest episode of Found first though along with at least reviewing some of the plot points of the shows I mentioned.
But Found, Gabrielle Mosely and this idea of Sir as her shadow-self is sort of living rent free in my head right now and something has to get out on paper.
Here comes a thought
Happy New Year, everyone!!
Keeping this update short, since we are in the thick of development right now, but things are coming along great with Episode 5! Right now, we're continuing to hack away at the middle third of the chapter, but we're rapidly approaching the point where it will finally be time to move on to the climax.
Here's where we are, in numbers:
Over 140,000 words of script have already been fully implemented for the episode. That's writing, art, music, sound design, code, and bugfixing, all essentially locked in. For reference, that is about as much content as there was in all of Slay the Princess on release.
723 sprites have been finished, as well as 64 backgrounds.
11 new tracks of music have been finished.
If you want to check out what's finished, preview builds are available for the Alpha Tester tier on our Patreon, which also has a dedicated section on our Discord to discuss new content and help us eliminate bugs before release.
Episode 5 has a lot of branching and player agency in it, and it's also the first time the story can become locked in to early conclusions, though these endings will still have additional content waiting for them in The Final Chapters*.* They'll also be heavily (diegetically) signposted, and it will be difficult to reach these branches accidentally. This will be the most replayable Episode to date, with many routes to explore with the same start of chapter save file.
One thing I'd also like to highlight in this update is what the remainder of Scarlet Hollow's development is going to look like. While the game is still going to have seven Episodes, the last two are really just a single unit, split into two chapters. They'll be released as a single update together, and it's best to view Episode 5 as the penultimate "Episode," as well as the game's final cliffhanger. So this will be the last opportunity to hop on the train while still leaving room to theorycraft alongside the community. This also means that the conclusion of Scarlet Hollow is probably closer than you think!
All the best, and Happy New Year! We're almost there.
