the implications of a nonwhite scarlet hollow MC. rotating them in my head. like imagine growing up severed not only from the cruel white old money side of the family, but also entirely removed from your father who gave you the features which set you apart from the only family you have in the world. if the MC grows up without access to community and culture their main tie to their heritage would be, quite plainly, racist interactions. what the hell must it be like to go back and peer into the faces of the few local families who fit the bill and wonder if they might know who your father is. if someone can tell you where you're from and who you belong to. i'm holding your hands so tight rn btw

I have some thoughts about the QnA that said Avery's other trait would be Keen Eye and just how much that fundamentally impacts Avery's character in general, but I also think its really important when it comes to understanding Avery's dynamic with Julius.

Because Avery is, fundamentally, very lonely. Its one thing you can partially get them to say during the Episode 3 hangout with them. People are 'Nice' to them, but no one truly is willing to be close with them.

And that's where the dynamic with Julius is interesting because, well, Avery is looking for affection, and they're going to notice it in the smallest spots.

And Avery only views Julius as a friend because they are able to See the subtlest things. Because, to be frank, people would not interpret Julius's behavior as friendship. I mean, a lot of people, especially in 'polite' spaces, wouldnt look at this asshole old man, with one-word responses who leaves fifty cents tip, and occasionally makes things without being asked, as being 'friendly'.

But Avery, who is lonely and actively looking for connection anywhere they can find it, notices. "we might not talk much, but I feel like we have an understanding, you know?"

A truly evident moment for me is if you have the keen eyed trait during a conversation option during Chapter 5

Avery: "We're still going to do that, I promise. Let's not lose our heads, all right? We just gotta figure this out first." Julius: "You were gonna leave town? What for?" (Keen Eye) There is palpable disappointment in the man's voice.

And if a Keen Eyed Player notices is that, how many littles thing does Avery notice, and extrapolate on?
