wow you have dogshit taste (remembers im trying to be nicer to people who like different things) uh i mean, it's beautiful how the breadth of human experience is so wide it encompasses those with good taste and those with dogshit taste
it would suck being a new immortal. like it’d be 2109 and people would go, “what was it like seeing ancient civilizations rise and fall like that? seeing the pyramids being built? watching the expansion and growth of the new world?” and i’d just be like, “no…no i was born in 1991. so like, wow i’m gonna see some cool stuff, but, i mean i’m not that much older than just a really, really old person, you know? phones were big back then. so big. but only for like ten years, then they got like, as good as they are now. uh. rhinos existed. don’t think i ever saw one in person. cool, good talk.”
even worse, imagine being an immortal who keeps missing stuff. “What was it like seeing the pyramids being built?” “Fuck if I know, I was in Madagascar.” “Oh, okay. Well, how was the Renaissance?” “I fell down a hole in Scotland and people thought I was an enchanted well for four hundred years, it was over by the time I convinced someone to get me out.”
And now, a lesson in biases:
We barely know anything about Madagascar pre-500CE. We don’t even know whether the island had a permanent population before then, despite finding a bunch of much older signs of temporary human presence.
Malagasy mythology makes mention of the vazimba, a “precursor” ethnic group that might or might not be distinct from Madagascar’s current population.
The point is, we do not know.
So you were in Madagascar when the pyramids were being built in Egypt, i.e. during one of the most obscure, most undocumented parts of Madagascar’s human history?
Oh, buddy, you better go and make a bunch of anthropologists and archeologists really happy RIGHT NOW instead of feeling bad about missing everyone else’s pet Major Event.
It’s been a decade since we left that comment and you have the best reply anyone’s left to it.

Ship Tournament, Semi-Final — Match 2 / 2
Alfira/Lakrissa
"They give the tiefling refugee storyline this little thread of hope. They’re displaced, scared, they’ve lost people, and they still find this warmth with each other. Alfira is carrying grief for Lihala and trying to keep making music anyway, and Lakrissa has that practical, joking bravado. Together they have such a lovely balance. Alfira brings the open-hearted bard feelings, Lakrissa brings the teasing confidence, and both of them are braver than they probably think."
"The banter does so much. Lakrissa’s little smirky comments, Alfira being sweet and sincere but still having a bit of spark herself, the sense that they’ve found something soft in the middle of a completely awful journey. They’re just two women trying to survive and making each other’s lives better along the way."
vs. Lae'zel/Shadowheart
"lae’zel/shadowheart is THE enemies to lovers blueprint in bg3 idc. they start off genuinely ready to slit each other’s throats over the artefact, the gith/sharran distrust is off the charts, and somehow it turns into this insane potential for two women who were both raised inside brutal religious systems slowly realising they were lied to by the people they worshipped"
Which ship do you prefer?

Started experimenting with a more watercolor-like style. It's fun, but there's still a lot to learn!

I assumed he was being pedantic and talking about Norse writing from after Christianity became a thing (the oldest example of runic writing we have is from the first century), while the original poster meant "Before the Christianization of the Nordic countries" (circa 9th to 12 centuries).
But no, the earliest Norse sagas were generally recorded in the 12th century. Of course, most are recordings of earlier oral histories, but still.
Beowulf was set in Nordic lands, but not by a Nordic author. (And was still only recorded in the tenth century.)
I just want to love and be loved. why is lunch twelve dollars now

fantastic. i love it. i posted this after my wife said it yesterday and as i was doing it i was like "this can't be an original thought. as soon as i hit post someone's going to say 'you stole this from a tweet from 2014' and i'll say 'no, i stole it from my beautiful wife.'"
I’m ready to be transformed by the ibuprofen . I’m ready to be born again in its purifying light.
