Been a while, but I'm finally back! This time with an art study of matcha on twitter (minus the beautiful backgrounds)
Loveee your art!! Do you usually draw a lot of thumbnails before you start a piece or do you just go with your first instinct? I really like your composition and how you pick poses/backgrounds (esp that one piece with Travern and the chess pieces!) so I was curious if you had a process behind that or if that just came from a lot of practice
Thank you so much!! <3 And sorry for the late answer, I just got back from a trip. I do usually end making a TON of thumbnails. I always typically have an idea of what I want the pose to be, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. I'd say most of poses are a mish mash of poses I find on Pinterest. For instance if I want a character sitting down, I'll pick the leg pose, next where I want the arms/hands to be, then finally the direction of the head.
As for backgrounds, I usually always know what I want to draw for them, and I'll base the pose around the background. I get a lot of inspiration for backgrounds from pictures (again mostly from PInterest lol), however, I'd say learning how to pose your character in said background does come with time and practice <3
Hope this helps!!
This piece was for RemmyDaWitch's dtiys on bluesky ((:
