Before I make too many posts I should probably make an introduction.

Feel free to ask me anything, just going to be brief here.

How I got into YTTD:

I heard about it through the DR fandom and osmosis’d some vague spoilers but I had planned on waiting for the game to finish before I got into it. .............but then one day YTTD Animatic “Mind Electic” showed up in my related videos and I happened to check it out. Spoilery for chapter 2 but it confirmed for me that I was going to absolutely love Shin. Been losing my mind for the beanie baby ever since.

Favorite scene:

The cellphone confrontation entirely flipped my feelings for Shin. Up to that point I saw him as a rival character and I wanted to Destroy him (in a fun way). Fighting over the cellphone and the message on it highlights that Shin has been going through the death game with his own perspective that just happened to be in conflict with Sara’s perspective and I both loved how valid he was for suspecting Sara and loved how protective he was of Kanna. He doesn’t have to be right about Sara for me to be impressed at the agency his character has independent from what the protagonist is up to.

Chapter 2 in general is great for having characters take actions that have nothing to do with Sara being there to influence it or even know it’s happening at all.

I may make a post later explaining my reasons for this but tldr it comes down to how important Sou is to Shin’s development and what I enjoy is puzzling out what defines these characters. Would absolutely be hype to see Shin grow past the bastard man, but I also would be interested in exploring their history together and various ways their dynamic could play out. Couldn’t they just be platonic? Sure, but after Midori’s “affection” line I’m interpreting the way they both seem clingy to the memory of the other as them having been boyfriends in the past. Awaiting canon to confirm/deny.

Miscellaneous doodles at varying levels of completion that vaguely go together because I started them at the same time. And either Sou or Shin is in each one. Unsurprisingly.

Been thinking of timeline implications of how Nankidai has said that Ranger is 3 years old, but Ranger says it takes 3 years to develop a personality for an AI. So was Ranger in development since 6 years ago?

Safalin worked with Gashu to develop Ranger and Nankidai one time generalized her age as "late 20s", and we know she was scouted by Asunaro from her job where she was presumably doing similar enough things. Assuming Safalin needed a 4 year degree for the job they scooped her from she was minimally 22 when she was hired so spending 6 years on Ranger works well with the late 20s idea.

Interestingly, 6 years ago also would be when Shin likely entered highschool. We don't know what year of highschool Shin was in when he met Midori, but with the limited information we have to work with stretching back this far opens an area of speculation: AI Shin claims that since "he was little" (in japanese text it was just calling him a boy) Midori has been doing experiments on people to test how they react to things. And we know that he is familiar with coding. There is a possibility here that Midori was doing this kind of work for Asunaro until he got assigned to do the consent forms, and because he's busy with another job that lead to Gashu being allowed to hire outsiders to replace the work that Midori was previously involved in.

Entirely speculative, but it's possible that Safalin and Miley were hired in 6 years ago in response to Midori getting a job change in the organization.

I'm a little fond of the idea I cannot support with solid evidence that Midori was working under Gashu for some time. Especially with that comment from AI Shin that could imply Midori was doing work while underage? Executive woman with Hiyori like hair breaking Gashu over his affection for his children and some years later Gashu gets stuck managing a spoiled brat with hair like her.

Maybe he would have more respect for Gashu if Midori saw him as a boss, but maybe not with how Midori has that duality going on with being a candidate and a member of Asunaro. Victim and Perpetrator. I could see it working out that he works under Gashu while outranking him, so the power of their dynamic stays with Midori on a personal level. But Midori still must "obey the will of the organization" so professionally he follows orders. He just sees Gashu as beneath him while fearing the shadow of higher ups above them both.
