Creating Time for You
As a single mom of two, student, employee, friend and girlfriend I am definitely torn between commitments on a daily basis. My work life ties up half my week in the way of it makes everything else impossible because my body rarely enables me to sleep. I work overnights Thursday through Saturday and often times the days to follow the nights of my shifts are useless. Normally I prevent myself from sleeping by waking up to early, or my kids wake me up. It is often difficult for me to fall back asleep after this happens.Â
I think it is extremely important when your life is overwhelmed with responsibilities to find time for the people or activities that reduce your stress. In my previous blog I talked about exercise, for me specifically that is CrossFit. Sometimes I find that it can contribute to my hectic schedule but I find myself needing it.Â
As a momma sometimes I put my kids to bed much earlier than usual in order to just get daily tasks done like homework or chores. It is often necessary in order to get things done. Sometimes I even put them to bed early just so I can have time to myself *GASP*, these things are all necessary when it comes to reducing levels of stress. Â
Sometimes I go to the movies by myself, sometimes I will go to a restaurant by myself, my most favorite is getting a pedicure by myself although I love to share that experience with a friend. Trying to get two working adults who are also parents together in the same place is an obstacle on its own. Â
If you take care of yourself and your body, it will be easier to take care of everything else in your life. Your work responsibilities will be easier to accomplish, parenting will be easier, and your relationships will be better. Take time to find what you need in your life to function better as a human being. Â
