          adeline   feels   bad   —   a   little.   just   a   tiny   bit.   because   her   focus   on   basic   chemistry   has   been   lost   for   the   better   part   of   20   minutes   and   her   heart   has   been   drumming   with   the   fearful   hummingbird   that   visits   whenever   her   parents   send   her   a   text   (   come   home   this   break,   we   want   to   introduce   someone   to   you   ).   gaze   snaps   upward,   immediately   apologetic.   ❝   to   be   honest,   no,   not   really.   you’re   doing   a   good   job   explaining   though!   ❞   sheepish   smile   graces   her   lips,   before   she   says,   ❝   hey,   are   you   free   this   upcoming   break?   could   you   do   me   a   favor?   ❞

she narrows her eyes at the compliment before sighing. guess she would just have to give adeline extra notes then. "this upcoming break?" huh, she didn't think that far ahead yet. "i don't think i have any concrete plans, why?" somehow, the thought of doing her a favor didn't sound too appealing. wasn't she already doing her a favor by tutoring her? but viola isn't one to say no, at least not without hearing her roommate's proposition first.

“so, basically, if you-” viola looks up from her book, expecting to find her roommate focused on her and what she has been explaining for the past 15 minutes, except she isn't. she definitely isn't. viola has tutored enough kids to know when they aren't paying attention. "hey, are you listening?" her glasses almost falls off the bridge of her nose as she waves her hand in front of adeline’s face, frowning.
