@rowanarryn
we will build a new family of our own soon enough.
stvrmking:
it appears that he has quite a bit to catch up on. of course, steffon just had to show up after the terrible events of the midsummer ball but there was serious matters at the border that he needed to take care of first. luckily, kyra had not been seriously injured but many others loyal to his kingdom were not so lucky. as he set foot in the quarters designated for those of the stormlands he was informed of their losses.. it saddened him, for sure, but unfortunately he must now focus on how to move forward. everyone was looking at each other with a suspicious eye as the focus shifted from peace talks to discovering the cowards behind the attacks.
he is on his way to speak with some of his men when he had somehow managed to collide with another as he turned quickly around. he reaches out and places a large hand on their shoulder in an effort to stabilize them– fearing his large frame would knock them back. “my apologies,” he says, bowing his head. he turns to walk away before stepping back to face them once more. “actually, do you know where i might find the infirmary?” he questions. he had been so busy catching up with higher up officials and his wife, he had totally forgotten to meet with those who had been hurt.
rowan rose from his chambers early this morning, dressed and ready before sunrise. he quickly ate his breakfast in silence, having woken up much earlier than his siblings. he had been in sunspear for a couple of days now, but quickly forced himself to fall into his usual routine to help create a sense of normalcy. given that sunspear was so vastly different from the vale, as well as continuously missing the company of his daughter, rowan thought it would be wise if he ventured out to the training grounds to help distract him. rowan had plans to focus on his form and technique before he met with his brother for lunch. rowan had arranged a meeting between him and his younger brother, robin, to discuss in more detail of the progress he had made in regards to potential trading negotiations for the vale.
as rowan made his way to the training grounds, he slowly sauntered down a hallway that would lead him to outside. as he walked, a body slammed into rowan’s shoulder. rowan prepared himself from the blow, slightly bending his knee and stepping one leg slightly back to brace himself. the man also placed a hand on his shoulder. rowan found himself unconsciously stepping back to free himself from the man’s grip; rowan looked at the man who stood in front of him, taking a moment to recall if they had met before. alas, they had, though this was many years ago. in front of him stood the storm king. “king steffon”, he says, bowing his head. “it’s been some time since we’ve last met. you look well.”
“it is not too far from here. i can show you the way.” he states calmly, beginning to walk in the direction of the infantry. “i assume that you have only just recently arrived to the summit? i only assume because you have the same look of confusion i had when i first arrived two days ago.”
- can we use the debt of the pazzi bank to undermine its shares? - it would put our bank at risk. undermine your main competitor. - this is not about our bank or your bank, this is about florence. - so you say.
@rosa-arryn
rowan entered his family’s lodgings and was immediately greeted by the image of a young servant boy sprinting towards his direction. “your highness,” the little boy yelled out, breathless, “princess rosa has returned! she is in her chambers.” rowan immediately thanked the boy, tossing him a gold coin to show his appreciation and giving him a quick nod and a smile. rowan walked through the lodgings at a quick pace until he stood out front of his sister’s chambers door. rowan stood at the door for a moment, taking in the sense of excitement that suddenly washed over him. it had been some time since rowan had last saw his little sister. in fact, when their father first mentioned that rosa would be accompanying robin to the summit, rowan found himself feeling slightly envious -- envious of the fact that both his siblings would have a chance to leave the vale and be free from their father’s clutches, but also envious of the time that he would miss out on with rosa. the pair often spent time together -- rosa often overseeing maddelena’s education and day-to-day activities, and of course, spoiling her rotten with love.
rowan slowly open the door to his sister’s room, making sure to enter slowly to not startle her; however rosa had her back turned to him. rowan walked towards her, bringing a hand to rest gently on her shoulder before walking into her sight of view. “you’re all in one piece.” he signs to her with a grin. although he made this comment out of jest, rowan couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief run through him when he was able to confirm for himself that rosa was safe.

- it was chance, wasn’t it? that we met? - or fate.
@rosa-arryn @princerobinarryn
despite docking his ship and being on dornish soil for the last few hours, rowan still had not laid eyes on robin. after having a chance to unpack his belongings, draft his letter to maddelena and explore the nearby gardens, rowan sauntered back to his family’s lodgings and was immediately informed by a servant that rosa had returned home. rowan quickly asked the servant to take him to his sister for he had still not become use to their new, interim home. rowan was able to slide inside the room that rosa was in and surprise her. now the pair sat together in the dining hall; a roasted chicken and a variety of dornish sides set up across the wooden table that they sat at. holding a glass of wine, rowan turned to rosa. “how is robin doing with the trade negotiations?” he signed to rosa. robin was known to be dry and uptight; two traits that did not bind well together when trying to formulate alliances and trade agreements. this had worried rowan when his father initially decided to send robin to sunspear instead of him. “where is robin?” rowan thought to himself...
lysarsea:
there was no riddance of the all-consuming array of the sun. so she expected, and so she knew. not here, not there, not anywhere. she tries her room and the age of the stone fails to secrete, as the poorly insulated walls enclasp the heat, never to let go. their main grail to put her to sleep from inflicted spells of vertigo and lethargy. what century was this built? she wonders, though her thoughts plodding as they cogitate. not a man would last a winter within if it had been the north. the insulation would have never passed an idea, if that.
she dresses herself, as if a lady ever did. one maiden stood before her with hands placed on her shoulders to keep her upright, another fanning her, and the last tying her corset. “ so beautiful it is, but i wonder who would choose to make this home. ” she chokes on her words, as the laces tighten. her handmaidens only titter, not at their bemusement, but because they feel they must. real company … and a glass of dorne grand cru would serve her suffice, an ample distraction. the maidens pull to a side, and she inhales; one second, two, three go by and she exhales. “ i head to the castle now, do with the seconds as you please. i thank you all for your assistance. ” she nods, as they run off like three little mice, lined up and without a word more than, “ thank you m’ lady. ” or “ of course, m’ lady, whatever you need, m’ lady. ” she near wished her help did not arrive yet. she much liked the independence she embellished when on her own. how uncouth of her to even ponder, but it stood true as day.
lysara saunter to the castle, only to take an interest in the garden. there she sat below a tall tree offering much shade to her satisfaction. a servant carries out to her a glass of wine. “ at last. ” the servant’s shadow disappears at his ushering, to reveal a man plucking from the garden, but he did not look like a gardener. with curiosity, she returns to her feet to linger not far behind, only to jerk back at his so sudden acknowledgment, “ oh, but i saw it very well. ” she looks down at the pink rose, “ what will one rose do for a lady , that a bouquet could not ? ” she scans his all, taking in the flair of his wear and that of a house arryn pin, “ i am sure it would not be difficult for someone of your stance to request. ” she then curtseys, low, but not as low as she would for a lannister king or queen, “ your royal highness, ” she knew the arryn king to be old and grey, wrinkly in skin, the man before her was not so fitting, and yet she was at first skeptical if he was a prince, considering the looks did not match that of his sister or brother. “ being in dorne, i would suggest, purchasing cloth over stealing rose. one you can obtain only here, the other, anywhere. and if you are to pick flower, i suggest the daisy, roses can at times symbolize pain, whereas daisys are strictly to signify loving truly. ”
although his demeanour remained aloof and his face emotionless, a small sense of amusement washed through rowan at the sight of the woman jerking in front of him; he had caught her off guard. while his eyes gazed over the nursery of pink roses, carefully observing each one to ensure that he chose the one with the least amount of imperfections, he had heard soft footsteps and the swishing of a woman’s skirts slowly make its way closer to behind him. rowan’s endless years spent hunting and training allowed him to have sharp ears. well, that and, it helped that he was able to spend an ample amount of time with his younger sister who was deaf. the pair would often communicate by sign language, meaning that their time spent together was quiet. rowan became accustomed to the many noises that came from silence. “ah,” rowan says, his tone filled with slight jest, “well, you must name your price then so that you can unsee it.” the corner of rowan’s lips tugged into a small smirk before returning the woman’s curtsey with a low bow. “my lady. prince rowan arryn, at your service.”
now that rowan had a moment to observe the woman that stood in front of him, his eyes gazing at her pale, light-toned locks and her viridescent eyes. throughout his entire childhood, his tutor always told him stories about how those with green eyes were determined. rowan always thought this to be an overgeneralization made by his tutor, but now here he stood, in front of the woman with green eyes, and he couldn’t help but feel the determination, and resiliency radiate through this woman. “for this particular lady, one rose is all she wants. we collect them together -- every time i travel somewhere, i bring her home a flower. then when our collection is full, we take the pressed flowers to my late wife’s grave to honour her. she loved flowers, you see. it allows for my little one to do something meaningful for her mother as well. though she does enjoy daisies. perhaps you can join me and help me find one?” rowan gestured to the path that led through the rest of the gardens.

it had only been a handful of hours since rowan’s lengthy journey from the vale to sunspear had come to a much needed end. rowan had travelled by ship, and although it usually took most four weeks to travel coast to coast, high winds and a determined pace had ensured rowan was able to make the trek in two. he ordered for the fastest ship and most experience crew from the docks of gulltown, refusing to take no for an answer when they had first told him that it would be almost impossible to arrive in such short time. moving against his sick father’s advice for the vale heir to remain close to the mountain throne, rowan had decided to make the journey regardless after he heard news of his siblings injuries. he felt that their injuries could have been prevented had he been there, or if they had adequate access to their own guards for protection. of course his siblings were provided a handful of guards to ensure their safety and well-being of this summit, but who else would protect them if not their own blood, he who others called the prince of the blade?
despite only being away from home for mere two weeks, rowan’s heart ached for his daughter. he knew she would fare well under his mother’s protection, providing rowan some sense of much needed comfort. once he had arrived to sunspear and was escorted to the lodgings in which his siblings where currently residing him, rowan immediately sought out a piece of parchment and quill and began to draft a letter to his dear maddelena; assuring her that he had arrived safely, that he loved her and missed her very much. rowan felt the corner of his lips tug into a faint smile when he remembered his daughter’s one request as he kissed her goodbye: she wished for him to send her a pink rose. rowan had sent for a wooden frame he could use to press the flower into to ensure that it would preserve the delicate flower.
with his siblings no where to be found, rowan sought out a hall boy and asked for directions to a nearby garden. rowan travelled by foot to the garden — grateful to be able to walk on land and not endure the swaying of the ship and sound of the ocean’s churning waves — before sauntering through the garden. rowan finally stumbled upon a pink rose, bending down and picking it from it’s bud. rowan turned sharply on his heels, not expecting to meet eyes with someone. rowan brought a finger to his mouth. “you didn’t see that.” he says, unsure if he was even allowed to pick from the garden in the first place.

the pazzi bank will pay you five lire to the florin. it’s not what the medici bank promised you, of course, but it is cash in your hand. and more than you’ll see from the medici, who are insolvent.
