I know, we're adorable. Roman's my new best friend!
Oh, hi Roman! Do you want to be my bestest friend ever?
Apollo, why are you wearing a kitty cube? Kitty cubes are not for wearing, they are for kitties. You are not a kitty.
Apollo, did you eat Roman's food again? He won't want to be your friend if you keep eating his food!
I see you have a treat there. Go on, hurry up. We don't have all day.
Hi I'm Jasmine And I Was Given A Razor Blue Pitbull Puppy. I Know All About The Misconceptions About Pitbulls But My Question Is As Your Pitbull Got Bigger, Did You Become Fearful Of It?
Hi, and congratulations on getting a pit bull! My Apollo apparently has a lot of the Razor's Edge bloodline. I can't say how much, the guy we purchased him from claimed it and I never took a good look at his papers to see if it would give me any indication.
To answer your question, I have never once been fearful of my dogs, and I'll try to give my explanation of why somewhat brief. XD I nearly wrote a story the first time I tried to answer this.
I got my first pitbull, Mase, when I was about five years old, and he never snapped, nipped, or even barked when he wasn't supposed to. My dad used to have Mase play a game where Mase would lightly hold down his hand with his teeth. My dad wanted to see if Mase would still hold down if someone else's hand was with his, so once he grabbed my hand and put it on top of his. Instead of trying to nibble on my dad's hand like he normally did, Mase turned his head away and refused to.
Roxus, while he barks at men, has also never snapped or bitten or even nibbled. He is extremely gentle, loves children, likes to sit on laps like he's a lapdog, enjoys walking in between legs and even understands the phrase "give me a kiss and a hug". He'll lower his head down and let us kiss the top of his head before he puts his head on our shoulder.
Apollo is my lazy bum, he likes to sleep, lean against you, and also sit on your lap. He absolutely adores cats, and enjoys trips to the veterinarian's office because the cat they have that lives there plays with him. The vet, really confused about this, had even taken the time to ask us if he liked cats, because he couldn't understand why he liked their cat Goldy so much. Like Mase and Roxus, Apollo has never once nipped or snapped past that early puppy teething stage.
Because I had helped train all of these dogs, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that they would never, ever hurt me, my family, or my guests. When I was in middle school, I had a friend who was terrified of dogs and actually didn't want to come over because I had Mase at the time. When she finally came in and played with Mase, she decided that she really liked him and wasn't afraid of him, although she still feared dogs, even chihuahuas. When I got Roxus, she suggested the name, and visited a lot and took a huge liking to him as well.
My brother's friend purchased a pit bull puppy, who was a beautiful fawn, and brought it home without telling his mother. She was incredibly fearful of the dog for a while even though it was a puppy, just because it was a pit. He quickly managed to wiggle his way into her heart and stayed there. When my brother's friend was ready to move out, he couldn't take the dog because his mother loved the dog so much and wanted to keep him.
As long as you love your puppy, train it in basic obedience and curb any bad habits you don't want it learning, they will be the most fantastic dog you ever had. Pits are people pleasers, and all they want to do is make their master happy. I can assure you, if you love your dog, it will do anything in its power to prove that it loves you back... normally that involves a lot of doggie kisses. c:
I was told I wasn't allowed to go on the couch, so I decided to crash on Tally's bed. He doesn't seem to mind. He's got a lot of room to spare.
So... are you trying to tell me we're not allowed on the couch?
Tally! I thought you were MY best friend!
What? What do you mean I need a hat to go outside? We live in Florida! It's not even cold!
My name is Rox, I'm a four year old American Pit Bull Terrier. My mom told my sister that I deserved my own blog because I'm apparently really silly, so she decided to give it a shot.
My goal is to change your mind about my breed. We're really good dogs, but people never want to give us a chance.
