Roxanne Gilmour Moodboard
For Roxanne Gilmour, there was no better way to spend a Saturday than apple picking. Well, perhaps if her daughter was home for a visit it would be better, but for now she was focused on picking the best looking apples to take home and make delicious goodies out of. She was wandering through the orchard, basket on her arm, with her eyes in the trees. Honestly, she knew she should pay better attention but the orchard didnât seem particularly busy this morning and she didnât want to miss a good looking apple. After a few steps, she felt herself bump into something -- something distinctly not tree like. âOh shoot! Iâm sorry! Are you okay?â She regarded the other person with a concerned smile, hoping that her slow meandering pace made it so that there was no damage to the other person or their apples.
A selection of songs from Roxanne Gilmourâs âI Miss Youâ Playlist
âLast night I heard him pray, Lord help me and momma make it through, And tell daddy we'll be ok, He said he sure misses you, He sure misses you, He really misses you, He gets that from me...â [He Gets That From Me by Reba McEntire]
âWhat do you say in a moment like this. When you can't find the words to tell it like it is. Just close your eyes and let your heart lead the way. Oh what do you say..â [What Do You Say by Reba McEnitre]
âWeather man said it's gonna snow, By now I should be used to the cold. Mid-February shouldn't be so scary.. It was only December, I still remember the presents, the tree, you and me. But you went away. How dare you, I miss you..â [Over You by Miranda Lambert]
âYou should be here, standing with your arm around me here. Cutting up, cracking a cold beer, Saying cheers, hey y'all it's sure been a good year. It's one of those moments, that's got your name written all over it.. And you know that if I had just one wish it'd be that you didn't have to miss this, You should be here...â [You Should Be Here by Cole Swindell]
â'I'll wait for you at Heaven's gate. Oh, I don't care how long it takes. And I'll tell Saint Pete I can't come in, Without my love and my best friend. Oh, this ain't nothin' new.. Sweetheart, I'll wait for youâ [Iâll Wait For You by Joe Nichols]
âThere are moments that the words don't reach, There is suffering too terrible to name. You hold your child as tight as you can and push away the unimaginable. The moments when you're in so deep, It feels easier to just swim downâ [Itâs Quiet Uptown by Hamilton (Original Broadway Recording)]
âI'd hold you every second, Say a million I love you's. That's what I'd do with one more day with you. One more day, one more time, One more sunset maybe I'd be satisfied. But then again I know what it would do. Leave me wishing still for one more day with you...â [One More Day by Diamond Rio]
âThe one my heart and soul confided in, The one I felt the safest with. The one who knew just what to say to make me laugh again. And let the light back in, I miss my friendâ [I Miss My Friend by Darryl Worley]
âI drive your truck, I roll every window down and I burn up. Every back road in this town, I find a field, I tear it up. Till all the pain's a cloud of dust,Yeah, sometimes I drive your truckâ [I Drive Your Truck by Lee Brice]
âI can't help that all I think about is how you were taken way too soon. It ain't the same here without you, I gotta say, missing you comes in waves, And tonight I'm drowning. Yeah, I know you're in a better place, And one day I'll see you again. But it's killing me we can't be face to face, I miss my best friend...â [Drowning by Chris Young]

Leon sat at the local park on one of their benches, simply sitting as he watched his three year old play around in the toddler section of the playground. His intense blue gaze looked up at the nearby trees, and frowned at the way the leaves were already starting to turn colors, and sighed. âItâs only a week into September, and already you can see and feel the changing of the seasons,â he muttered to the individual beside him. He loved fall, it was one of his favorite times of the year, but he would be lying if he said he wouldnât miss summer - even if a little. âYou bummed that summerâs just about over?â
Roxanne was grateful for the nice weather that allowed her to take her lunch break outdoors. Her favorite thing to do was to sit near the playground and enjoy her lunch as well as the sound of the children laughing. She missed when her own daughter was this age, and sitting near the playground always brought a sense of calm over her. The memories of days bringing her daughter to playgrounds, accompanied by Xander... She was brought from her thoughts by the man sitting beside her and she looked over with a gentle smile. âIt is a shame, fall is wonderful but... nothing beats a nice summer day at the park.â For the first time since sheâd sat, she finally took in the look of the man beside her. She had lived in this city for ten years, but sometimes she struggled remember the people sheâd met. â... Have we met before?â

BIOGRAPHY
TW: Car Crash, Death
Roxanne was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Daughter to Lawyer Johnathan Gilmour and stay-at-home mom Jacqueline Gilmour, she was raised in a very Traditional American household. and grew up wanting for nothing. She had a close relationship with her mother up until her teenage years, when the two often found themselves in arguments over Roxanne's choice of friends and the path she was heading down. Roxanne was sent away to a private boarding school in Maine for her high school years. She flourished in Maine, not only able to focus on her studies but the friends she made there were also studious and helped to further her ambition. One of her closest friends, over time, became her high school sweetheart. Xander Smith was two years younger than her, but his maturity rivaled her own and once the slow burn of their relationship began, Roxanne was instantly smitten. She chose to stay in Maine near Xander after graduation, taking the first two years of her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Southern Maine Community College. Once Xander graduated, the two made the move back to Roxanne's hometown of Boston where Roxanne transferred to William James College to finish out her undergraduate degree. Xander chose not to attend college and instead worked his hardest at a local restaurant as a host. With her degree in hand, Roxanne immediately jumped into a doctorate program, and Xander was with her every step of the way when she attended Yale University. Xander continued to work, this time at a college dive bar, while Roxanne got a job working as an assistant to a Family Psychologist (Dr. Eva Greenspan) which helped to fund her continued education to get her doctorate degree in behavioral psychology. Due to a brief pause in her studies caused by the birth of her daughter Chrysanthemum at the age of 25, Roxanne did not graduate with her Doctorate until she was 31. She remained an assistant with Dr. Greenspan for just a few short years before Xander convinced her that they should move somewhere more beautiful. After much discussion, they landed on relocating back to the place where they had fallen in love - Maine. All of their savings went toward the move and a downpayment on a home in the beautiful small city of Holiday, Maine for them to start the new chapter of their lives. Roxanne was able to find a job as a family therapist in the nearby town of Portland, and Xander managed to find a calling for himself in the kitchen of a local restaurant (Tomâs Diner). He had started as a dishwasher and over the years, with lots of training, he moved his way up to sous chef. Life for the Gilmour's couldn't have been more perfect. Work was going well, Chryssy had lots of friends, and the Gilmour's new pool had been well received by all of their neighbors. The move to Holiday had been the perfect choice for them, they were beyond blessed. ... Until Xander got into a car crash on his way home from visiting his parents in Southern Maine late one evening. Their whole world was flipped upside down in an instant, and Roxanne found herself floundering for the first time in her life. She was lost, and it took her far longer than she would have liked to be able to get herself back on solid ground again. It has been five years since she found herself widowed, and with Chryssy having recently graduated from college with the plans to possibly move home, Roxanne is trying to make this year the best yet. She does her best to enjoy her newer job as the Mayorâs Secretary (a position she has held for the last three years) and to spend time with Chryssy whenever she is home. Roxanne isnât overtly social, but she never turns down a conversation with anyone in town.
