Isaac probably should’ve ignored what Royal was saying. They didn’t know each other well (depending on what context you were thinking of), so it wasn’t very appropriate to get in his business.“Asking how who is doing?” It sounded very serious.

      ❛  no one. ❜       he normally wasn’t a horrible guy. sure, his friends at halston high didn’t have the best reputation, but he himself wasn’t horrible. still, when the other spoke, he practically didn’t recognize him. he almost did a double take.        ❛  n–– no one, it’s nothing. ❜

“don’t be rude, royal.” alexandra said as she moved into the coffee shop after her son. she figured a visit to his half brother would be good for them but chasing her son across the street seemed like a better idea for him. “whether you like it or not, he’s your father’s son and your older brother. wouldn’t you want people visiting you when you’re in the hospital?” 

      ❛  stop –– mom, why do you say that ? he hasn’t been in my life at all. he wasn’t there when i broke my arm in 6th grade. he wasn’t there when i got that concussion in 9th grade. he wasn’t there so why do i have to be ? ❜       his tone was softer than normal. it was his mother, so of course he wasn’t going to blow up at her like he wanted to.        ❛  he’s not my brother. syd’s my sister, and that’s all i’ve got. ❜

ryan .  

               he’s supposed to be picking up something but the moment he parked his car, a familiar face passes and he realizes the hospital is across the street. climbing out then quickly jogging to royal’s side only to hear him utter the question. “because even though you hate him, he’s still your half-brother.” ryan had always cared too much, even he wanted to ask how the other was doing. if something had happened to teddy despite still not knowing about the younger guy, he’d definitely sob his eyes out. “but that’s just how i see it and i’ve lived in a perfect world, raised on rose coloured glasses.” ryan was too caring, he had a soft spot for just about everything and just wanted people to be happy. “not meaning to pry but why exactly do you hate him?”

      ❛  he was my dad’s mistake, ryan. he’s not my fucking brother. ❜       his voice tensed as he barely looked at the kid before walking into the coffee shop. his aggravation with the situation was high and ryan being there and making him nervous did not help in the slightest.        ❛  yea, you have. try living in a world where you’re reminded of a mistake your dad made every damn day of your life. ❜       was that too real ? he didn’t care at this point. this was the moment when he turned to ryan –– sudden interest in his eyes as he spoke.        ❛  it doesn’t matter why i hate him, ryan. it’s fucking pointless anyways.  ❜

         “you’re the captain, royal,” he tried with a raise of his brow, knowing full well how royal felt about nix. grayson would always stand by royal’s opinions even if he didn’t understand them, “maybe people expect you to know what’s going on with him? anyway, it was a tough thing to watch regardless of who it was. lets try to find a distraction for now, man. i’ll buy you something.” gray looked at him and playfully jutted out his lip, his hand lightly resting against the other male’s shoulder, “you want me to buy you a sprinkle donut?”

     ❛  yea so ? ❜      he practically groaned, only feeling slight relief knowing that his best friend just so happened to be in that coffee shop too.      ❛  well i don’t know anything so people should stop hounding me about him. ❜      he cleared his throat, sudden relief washing over his body before he turned and looked at the other.      ❛  a sprinkle donut ? for me ? gray. ❜      the smile practically lit up on his face. no wonder people thought they were a couple.      ❛  only if you get one too. ❜

– “BECAUSE HE’S YOUR BROTHER,” her head lifts as she hears a familiar voice, and there’s a small wave of trepidation that comes with it. she doesn’t hate royal, not the way phoenix does, at least – but he’s not her favorite cassidy, that’s all. “—-have you even visited him? it’d be kind of a dick move to flake on your own brother while he’s in the hospital.”

      ❛  he is not my brother. ❜       he spoke as his voice almost echoed in the practically empty coffee shop. nix was not his brother. royal had grown up for eighteen years without that kid in his house and he sure as hell wasn’t going to just start being his brother because they have something in common now. however, it was the girl that struck him off guard. she was nix’s friend .. or more than friend ? he couldn’t keep up with his own love life in current times. so, he did what all good brothers do best, and sent her a little smirk with his response.       ❛  nah, he doesn’t need me there.  ❜

In theory, getting coffee for the other volunteers should have been quick - but she was doing her best to spend as little time in the building as possible, which came with taking an inordinate amount of time deciding what she wanted to drink. Glancing over her shoulder as someone spoke, she took a second to check if he was with anyone. “Has anyone stopped to ask how you’re doing?” She asked, without really thinking about it. He didn’t exactly look fine, and some people seemed to hate when that was pointed out. 

      ❛  why the hell does it matter how i’m doing ? ❜       okay, this was griffin’s girlfriend. maybe he should be a little nicer.       ❛  i’m –– sorry, i just don’t get it. he’s a teammate, and i have to care about my teammates so yea –– it sucks, but that’s it. ❜       his voice was much calmer now, just a small hint of aggravation behind his words.       ❛  people just seem to think i should care more than i do. ❜

as soon as she heard royals voice elodie tried to disappear into the background. she leaned against the bar, waiting for her coffee and trying to think of an escape route. he got too close and she knew she needed to speak up. “he’s alright,” she chirped. elodie knew this because she had just finished up her visit with him (and finished their puzzle).

hearing the other’s voice caught him off guard. he didn’t expect to see elodie without her tagalong, especially in the state he was in. however, the words she spoke rung true. he was alright. nix was alright. it was visible –– the relief on his face like a weight was lifted off of his shoulders. ( however, if elodie were to point it out he’d walk right back out that door he just came in. )       ❛  i don’t care, elodie. ❜       your emotions stated differently.

“ask you how who’s doing?” hudson said from his seat at the coffee table near the door. the voice sounded familiar to him when he heard it. his head shook a little as he leaned back in his chair. hudson had spent the long weekend with his family then playing the final game of the season. he didn’t have time to keep up on other matters. “it can’t be grayson because you wouldn’t be so nonchalant about it.” 

      ❛  'ts not fucking grayson. ❜       he spat out as his anger subsided at the sight of the other slightly. he let out a soft breath before he shook his head.       ❛  coffee isn’t gonna do it for me. ❜       with an eyebrow raised, he looked at the other, sincerity and hope in his voice.       ❛  you wanna get out of here ? ❜
