Do you have any book recommendations? Also if you had to pick what do you think is your *favourite* book of all time? (You don’t have to answer haha I’m just nosy sorry!)
I literally cannot chose an all time favorite book it’s not possible for me however I will gladly give you book recs!
City of Brass by S.A Chakraborty middle eastern/ North African inspired fantasy based on Djinn mythology, amazing characters, stunning world building and gorgeous prose. There’s political intrigue, fighting and magic. It also is interesting how this author explores oppression and prejudice. Prince Ali is the king of my heart love my muslim husband. Dara is sexy and terrible. Nahri is a queen if only she’d stop being led around like a sheep.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by TJR this book is about a 50s Hollywood starlet who does whatever it takes to come out on top. Her career is marked by seven very public and equally scandalous marriages but the real love of her life is a mystery until she decides to share her life’s story with a young journalist named Monique. I LOVE THIS BOOK TJR INVENTED INTERESTING COMPLEX FEMALE CHARACTERS AND AMAZING PROSE also Evelyn is my bi cuban queen and I will love her forever
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch a physicist is kidnapped on his way home and is thrust into an alternate reality. It introduces this really interesting concept of multiverse theory and how every decision you make shapes who you become??? Idk if I’m describing it well but it’s amazing
The Criminal Intentions Series by Cole McCade this is basically law and order SVU but gay? Detective Seoung Jae Yoon (Korean, gay/ace) and Malcolm Khalaji (jewish/persian, bi) two detectives solve crimes and fall in love. I feel like if your into SVU you will love this, the writing is very good, the characterization is excellent, slow burn romance, interesting gritty crime. (Copaganda I know but it’s so good)
Last Night I Sang to the Monster by Benjamin Alire Saenz a story that takes place in rehab while our narrator Zach, a gay mexican teen alcoholic deals with his trauma. This is one of my favorite books Benjamin’s writing always hits me hard but this was a whole new level, I loved this character and his journey so much and seeing his journey paralleled with that of the other patients ugh tearsss. One of the most emotionally satisfying endings I’ve ever had the good fortune to read. One of the only stories I’ve read that didn’t demonize rehab or therapy at all ❤️ ps. GO READ ARI AND DANTE IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY
I probably have a million more I’m forgetting rn but I have to get to class I’ll come back later to add more
