Made some edits for the hornies. No shade to Hayden (you’re beautiful sweetie!), I just wanted to challenge myself to see if I could do (albeit in stills) what the the show couldn’t. And I learned a few things!
So somethings I’ve noticed going over these scenes and those from previous movies:
- It’s not that Ewan “doesn’t age” they just age very different. Ewan just accumulates a lot of tiny wrinkles and gets a tightness around his eyes that are a lot easier to hide - the rest of his facial structure is essentially the same
- Hayden’s skin meanwhile, sags and articulates completely differently (like Mark’s), particularly around his smile lines, which is much more obvious to our eyes
- His jaw also seems to have squared up a bit (which I doubt anyone’s complaining about), a thing seems to happen to a lot of men as they go from early to late twenties (Leonardo DiCaprio is probably the starkest exampe) and an “issue” way to lazy to fix (how does one even unsquare a jaw?)
- Hayden’s also gotten bulkier (likely for the Vader part) which just makes him look even less like a scrawny 17 year old, and the contributes to the effect especially in the distance shots
- And his lips are also thinner and there’s a noticeable moustache shadow that wasn’t there when he was 19 (too lazy to reverse that too)
Anyhow, enjoy the edits (or don’t). And do not @ me for any reason. I am a lazy frog who would like to go back to my hidey-hole unbothered now.
