You all know my entire blog is basically a shit post all the time. I rarely ever “get real” with my followers bc i like to keep things lighthearted, but for all of you who don’t know me and don’t know where i’m from, my country is going through a tough crisis right now. you can find a brief summary of the situation here and also here. Living in a third world country is not easy, but its not impossible. however, late and impromptu reforms to our social security (INSS) have enraged people. Wages are being cut, middle class salaries are being taxed higher than the last consensus, pensioned elderly are being deprived of 5% of their wages, which wasn’t much in the first place; the average pension is about C$7,500 nicaraguan cordobas (242 US dollars). The government is responsible for using our social security’s funds for their own profit, using the money from our taxes to build luxury hotels and shopping malls, and have personally pocketed a big chunk of the people’s hard earned money.

Yesterday, people began manifesting their anger and agreed to peacefully protest. Its written in our constitution, that every man and woman has the right to demand answers and protest our rights as long as the people keep things civilized. The government has always found a way to shut them down, either by abrasive lies or twisted truths. However, the Sandinistas’ regime and dictatorship has reached a new low today, when peaceful protestors were attacked by the police (under executive orders from the highest seat), and pro government youth is trying to terrorize people by almost beating them to death (this includes teenagers, adults, and elderly citizens). Public hospitals have been ordered not to tend for people who get hurt during the manifestation, especially on the “opposing” side, but doctors are sticking to their hypocratic oaths and have deployed to the streets where they’re stationed in safe spots to help people in need. The military is guarding the streets. Not a single protestor against the new reform in our social security is armed, but they’re being attacked with tear gas, flash grenades, and have now resorted to changing their rubber bullets to real ones. They have taken people hostage in police departments, hurt innocent people, and continue to blame protestors for local destruction.

Now, the government has turned to other methods, shutting down third party news channels who live cast the protest, shutting down radio stations, hijacked local channels, and are single-handedly, one by one, shutting down electricity, water, and cell phone communication. They’ve established a 10:00PM curfew, threatening to deploy soldiers to “diffuse” the situation. We are in a crisis, deprived of our rights, and forced to shove a dictatorship down our throats. We are the new Venezuela, the new Cuba, and its not being broadcasted anywhere.

people are legitimately allowing protestors chased by the police inside their homes for protection. there are signs everywhere that read “mama, sali a defender la patria. si no regreso, me fui con ella” (mom, i’ve left to defend my homeland. if i don’t return, i’ve left with her”). 40% of the country has no electricity. this is a strategy to attack people who have found refuge in public buildings. students have been forced out of their dorm rooms and threatened with scholarship withdrawal if they don’t help the government “control protestors”. this is getting out of hand. i’m home, i’m safe, but other people aren’t.

there have been 3 confirmed deaths thus far, one of them was a student in his 20′s, fighting for freedom. he was shot in the neck. women have been raped and beaten. today, the police has resorted to taking provisions from people and arresting people walking the streets. two med students were taken hostage by armed forces last night, their “crime” was helping people in need of medical assistance. our right for peaceful protest has been taken away, citizens are now fighting back, the police is refusing to stand with the people, instead they’ve decided to remain as puppets for the government. they’ve been ordered to shoot on sight. the military is now allowed to murder people in cold blood if they refuse to cooperate. this isn’t a protest anymore, this is a coupe.

its a revolution.

please spread this if you can. we need more media coverage. we are still being censored. our best journalists have renounced to their positions, refusing to be forced to spread lies for the sandinistas. media outlets subsided by the government are twisting truths, blaming deaths on protestors, calling us “rightists”. the only political stance nicaragua is taking is nonconformity with our current president. daniel ortega has fled to cuba and left rosario murillo (his wife and vice president) in charge of ‘spreading information’. she is a liar.

PSA to our followers this Autism Acceptance Month:

Use Autism **Acceptance** Month (as opposed to Autism Awareness Month).

NO “light it up blue” or puzzle pieces. Google “Autism Speaks hate group” to learn more.

Use red or gold instead, which are colors supported by the autistic community.

Use identity-first language (most autistic people prefer “autistic” instead of “person with autism”), but don’t police the language of someone who prefers to be called a person with autism.

NO scare terms like “suffering with autism” or “afflicted with autism.”

Avoid functioning labels like “high functioning” or “low functioning.”

If autistic voices are not at the center of your efforts, you’re doing it wrong.

When in doubt, ASK AN AUTISTIC PERSON.

what is it?

rpcharities was created in hopes to spread awareness and get this community involved in the world around them. it is intended to inspire roleplayers to educate, research, and support charities and organizations that are meaningful. by donating to them and sending proof of their donation to the blog, they are eligible to receive resources such as icons, graphics, art, and promos. 

how does it work?

rpcharities has an incomplete list of charities and organizations worth supporting for a variety of different causes, from college funds to hurricane relief to mental health treatment for lgbtq poc. this list is constantly being updated, and is open to your suggestions to add or possibly even remove organizations that may be harmful. by selecting a charity listed on the blog and providing a minimum $5/€4.04 donation, you are eligible for receiving any of the resources listed on the blog. sending a screenshot to either the rpcharities ims or submission box as proof of your donation (email, receipt, etc) you will be able to discuss with rpcharities what you would like in return. credit isn’t necessary, but you should definitely look at the organizations you choose to donate to -- who knows, you may have a local event in your area worth participating in!

once you place in your request, it’ll take about a few days to two weeks depending on the item. as of right now, all resources are made by cam (me!). while i’ll try to get your requests back to you within a reasonable time, i cannot promise to be speedy quick. i hope that this doesn’t inconvenience anyone in the near future. 

and as stated, rpcharities is always looking to improve. feel free to ask questions, give critique, suggest some things, and help the blog better itself.

I KNOW WHAT I SAID YESTERDAY,  but i need you all to educate yourselves on something that is going on at the moment.   

if you’re in the uk,  i am sure you have heard of what is called the WINDRUSH GENERATION, but for those abroad essentially it is this:   a group of people from the british commonwealth who moved here legally have had their records lost / destroyed (to be determined) and a number of those people have been detained / not been able to be let back into the country after being abroad.  there are threats of deportation flying,  a man has his access to vital medicine on the NHS removed.  like i said,  these people are people who moved here when free immigration was legal,  prior to 1971,  and a lot of them LEGALLY on their parent’s passports (as was the system here) meaning a lot of them have no papers in their name.   primarily,   the people are black caribbean. 

here’s the scary part, and why i am posting,   my family are a part of this generation. my papi has lived her since he was 7 months old.  while my mammy is jamaican born and bred,  my papi never lived in his homeland,  and he could lose his right to work,  his right to the NHS,  his right to live here,  all because the home office lost papers,  and his were in his parents name.  now,  yes,  there have been A LOT of promises made in parliament,  and i know theresa may is saying nothing will happen to these people and cases of discrimination against rightful british citizens will be negated by the government but 1) MAY HAS A TRACK RECORD OF BEING ANTI-IMMIGRATION and 2) because the government lost the only things proving when people like my papi moved here,  we can’t prove they are rightful british citizens. 

so what am i asking????    

first,   educate yourselves,   please.   you can read some more in depth pieces about this through these links:  X, X, X, X- mentions of death in this one, VIDEO HERE.   

second,  if you are in the UK,  please please please please LOBBY YOUR MP’S.   you have a voice,   we have a voice.  send letters,  call them,   email them,  tweet them,  facebook them.  create a stir.  we are the people and we will not stand for some britons being treated better than others.

third,  if you are not from the UK —– share our voices.  seek us out,  we are speaking,  use your power to make us louder. 

forth,  PLEASE,   if you read nothing else i link,   read this.   please,   i beg you.   listen to the stories of people like my father.   listen to the windrush generation.     hear their voices. 

i know tumblr is america centric and i get it,   honestly,   i do.   but i am british-carribean before i am here for any of you and i am begging you,  don’t let us be silenced.
