everyone on the admin team had extended internet issues this last week, so we're a little behind schedule. you all have been so gracious and the enthusiasm has been incredibly motivating, so i wanted to let you all know we'll be SOFT LAUNCHING the main tonight just for you. we'll need just a few more days before the lore pages are completed, but the app form and inbox will be live; since we're not using a first-come-first-serve model, there's nothing unfair about letting everyone waiting so patiently get early access. get excited!! we truly cannot wait to show you what we've been working on.

ahhhhh, we're so glad you're still excited!! one of my co-admins is currently playing DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION for the very first time to prep for the group so we have the incredible privilege of getting not just my well-loved, long-held dragon age ideas and personal soft spots, but the enthusiasm of someone experiencing the world and story with brand new eyes. honestly, i think what we have so far is pretty amazing, and we CAN'T WAIT to share it with you all!!
we'll be dropping the main before the end of the weekend!! a few of the lore pages may be works-in-progress still, but we've chosen to drop early and give everyone a chance to start reading through everything and conceptualizing characters. it's looking so good, you guys, we can't wait!!
by the way, friends: we've gotten a LOT of messages about the DEAD BY DAYLIGHT group that i've not posted. i want to reiterate that if anyone wants to make that group themselves, i have the whole rotating subgroup game mechanic MAPPED OUT already and would be more than willing to walk you through it and honestly!! i'd even set up the main code & graphics if wanted, it's therapeutic for me. i know lots of people were really excited so i just wanted to throw that offer out there!!

why the hell are you advertising in the literate tags if this isn't a literate group
because i think y'all are being seriously REDUCTIVE about if a group is literate or not. i personally want to have an environment that is comfortable and familiar with me, and it's very weird that there's this attitude now that what an rpg main LOOKS LIKE determines the quality of its writers. this will not be a fully para-based, gifless group but i'm also not stopping anybody from writing that way here if that's what you want!! everyone who enjoys dragon age is welcome here but only if we can be KIND to one another. this is NOT a tone that will be tolerated in the askbox or the group moving forward.
Potential idea that you definitely do not have to do BUT in Origins, all of the origins are technically "canon." For example, say your Warden is a Circle Origin, and you go to Orzammar, you'll hear people talk about Aeducan being exiled. In theory, Duncan could've recruited all of them? Whether or not they all survive the joining or the journey or the final battle is one thing... but if u wanted u could have multiple canon Wardens! (but if that doesn't suit ur fancy u should definitely pick a female Amell bc Hawke cousin and Cullen's former infatuation are plot interesting)
thank you so much for the suggestions, i love seeing what you guys come up with!! the hero of ferelden won't matter as much as, say, hawke in terms of past characters — i'm the MOST FAMILIAR with inquisition, and i know it's a major plot point of that story arc that the hero of ferelden isn't available in the fight against corypheus, so that's a character who sadly WILL NOT be playable. it's less about what's canon in the games and more about being able to pick one coherent world state!!

i think we're aiming for TUMBLR-BASED with optional faster-paced events on discord!! i am so sorry to disappoint, though; this will have more of an """appless""" vibe, something a little more casual than the typical vibes of a gifless dash. gifs won't be required, but i for one always love using my silly little fc images in replies. we'll still have lots of fun, don't you worry!! the ability to progress the story forward isn't influenced by the aesthetics 🫶🏻
you have no idea how stoked I am about a dragon age rp this has been my hyperfixation fandom for over a decade!! i'm curious if you're going to make a canon world state? who was the HoF, who rules Fereldan, Marian or Garrett Hawke? 👀
we're so glad to see how excited people are already, it's so motivating and inspiring for us!! we'll definitely have to make a CANON WORLD STATE for the sake of continuity, so your friendly neighborhood co-admin team will be playing around with the KEEP this week and seeing what we like best for the group universe. i think, since we're focusing on the INQUISITION era, it'll make the most sense to have the world that would piss solas off the most, essentially. that way he's set up well for his actions!! with worldbuilding, we're aiming for a blend of what's the easiest to understand for newcomers along with what's most satisfying for the diehard fans!!
The non-humanoid races in Thedas would make things a bit difficult 🤔 I do wonder how opposed people would be to going resourceless. Like having the option to have a face claim for the general facial structure of the character, but not using gifs on the dash? (I personally do not prefer to use resources just bc when I get an idea for a muse I find it very hard to find a FC that fits the visuals I have in mind AND has the resources to convey the personality of the character)
in regards to dwarves + qunari: i think if you made fcs and resources optional rather than required, characters that don't look as average or human would be far more accessible to write. in any fantasy setting in general i personally believe it limits creativity to hinge everything on whether fitting faceclaims with resources can be found or not. at the same time tho i also know that some ppl have weirdly strong negative opinions about writing without gifs so. deffo tricky 😔
definitely having A LOT of conversations about how best to handle this. i think the main thing here is the difference between what people expect from an """appless""" group vs an """lsrpg.""" i think if people see a more serious styled main vs a more casual styled main — and these are HORRIBLE descriptors in a literal sense, so please bear with me as i use terms that i hope are the most universally recognizable — they're more open to things like para-based threads without resources. regardless of what we WISH the standard was, i think we can all agree that most people perusing the appless rp tag wouldn't feel the same way. so it's definitely something all three of us will have conversations about and try to figure out the best way forward, but i do know that i've already made the decision all qunari will be NON-PLAYABLE. i think they're way less accessible across the board: not just in terms of resources, but the lore around them is so complicated ooc and strenuous ic that i think people not already familiar with the world would have a hard time keeping up. thank you both so much for your input, please feel free to keep sending stuff in as we build the main!!

oh wow, i'm so glad you're so EXCITED!! i won't be accepting early reserves but there won't be any need since we won't be first come first serve!! you'll have plenty of time to fight it out over canon characters. just keep in mind NOT EVERYONE will be playable.
i do have quite a few messages in the inbox with further votes and feedback — even if i don't answer, thank you everyone so much for the input!! truly, everyone was so kind and helpful, i'm so grateful and i hope you all join when the time comes. BUT, after LOTS of deliberation with my co-admin, we've decided to launch THEDAS!! there are lots of decisions that have to be made still so i'll leave the inbox open while we start setting up the main, but WATCH THIS SPACE, friends!!
