Hello, I have been participating in my local RRFM in Jacksonville FL and will be in Kansas City for a work conference in early August. I just wanted to confirm there will be a RRFM event on August 2 because I might fly in early. Can anyone bring anything? I have been distributing free sexual health emergency preparedness kits with period products, condoms, emergency contraception, etc. Would that be welcome? Thanks in advance for your reply.
That would be great!
Yes, August 2nd is the first Sunday in August, so barring unforeseen circumstances, we'll be out in brookside park.
Yes, anyone can bring anything. We've even accepted Floridians at our events before.
Those sexual health emergency preparedness kits would be great and any that are not take at the market will be delivered to Kansas City Food Not Bombs for distribution that same day.
Thank you for fighting the good fight down in Florida!
And Now We're off to Mutual Aid Day!
The really really free market in brookside park is over but now we're driving over to howdy/farewell to set up for mutual aid day. If you missed us in the park, you can catch us there from 2:30 to 5:30 along side many other great kansas city orgs!

Brookside Really Really Free Market June 14th
We'll be back and we'll be busy!
The weather is looking clear so our postponed really really free market will be this Sunday from 9AM until Noon in Brookside Park. However, June 14th is also Kansas City Mutual Aid Day! So if mornings or outdoors are not good for you, you can also catch the Kansas City Really Really Free Market at Mutual Aid Day from 2:30 to 5:30 in the afternoon. Mutual Aid Day will be hosted at Farewell and Howdy 6515 Stadium Drive Kansas City MO.
We'll be postponing.
Maybe the rain will let up at some point this morning but I have to make a call. It's raining hard in midtown right now and likely to be wet all day. The RRFM will be postponed until at least next week. Updates will be posted here.
Pride Month RRFM?
The forecast is looking iffy for tomorrow morning. There is about a 50% chance of rain. Unless I post an update in the morning expect that the Kansas City Really Really Free Market will be tomorrow morning, June 7th, from 9AM until Noon. We will be set up in brookside park near the intersection of 57th street and brookside blvd. Back in may we cleaned and organized the market. Here are some of the things that we will be bringing out.

Landfillcore
While I can at least try to keep it out of the landfill for a little while, so many landfillcore products end up in the really really free market. Reuse is an important part of conservation but reducing consumption has to be the foundation.
Awesome event the same day as the next RRFM!
Side note "Really Really Free" seems to be catching on.

if you used to enjoy thrifting I highly recommend getting free shit!
You can search "free store" to find one near you. Many counties, cities, cool anarchists, and some churches, run "stores" where people drop off donations and then you can go and have the things for free. This is very similar to thrifting, except you don't pay $12 for a temu t-shirt. You just get the t-shirt for free. Some of my absolute favorite pieces of clothing have come from places like this. They will sometimes be called "community closets", "free markets", "swap meets" (not all swap meets are free, some are more like a garage sale type thing), and a variety of other names.
There are also "buy nothing" groups on Facebook that are very very good, $0 items on online marketplaces, an entire "free" category of Craigslist, and even people giving things away on those creepy panopticon "neighborhood" apps like next door. I use an aggregator called "freebie alerts", it's free and you can choose which websites it pulls from and set up "whitelist" notifications for items you are looking for (for example, I had one set up that gave me a notification anytime someone posted an office chair. It did not take very long to find a good office chair after that, very convenient.)
there is so much free stuff in the world, if you enjoyed the "thrill of the hunt" with thrifting you will absolutely love the "thrill of the hunt" with getting stuff for free.
I know someone with free eggs. Is this an allowed donation?
Yes, eggs that are not taken at the market will be delivered to Kansas City Food Not Bombs afterwards.
Still planning to host the free market in Brookside Park this Sunday (April 5th) even though it's Easter? Same time (9:00 a.m. to noon)?
Any upcoming afternoons?
Yep! We'll be out there from 9AM until noon.
No afternoons anytime soon. We were doing the bike collective for the winter. Unless something comes up, the RRFM will be back to once per month through the spring and summer.
