Those Butoh dance practices really appeared to help Jacob prepare for this role. I had the opportunity to attend a Butoh exhibition in Kyoto back in 2023 and saw so much of the same physicality in his performance.

Hello! Just read your first chapters of Carmilla. I hope you are well.
I am doing well thank you! Unfortunately due to some health issues, I had to take a break from the series, but I plan on coming back this year with a soft reboot. My art skills have greatly improved since I last left off, so I decided because I wasn’t very far in to go ahead and rework those chapters.

ERIK’S DESIGNS 2/5
Now, for the concept design I'm most excited about: Erik's stylish Opera Ghost ensemble!
Drawing inspiration from the ALW musical and the 1989 movie adaptation, I aimed to blend the opulently embroidered stage cape with the flowing black gauze and crepe of Robert England's graveyard costume.
His overcoat boasts intricate Persian-style embroidery on the interior lining, depicting a celestial night sky in shades of blue, white, and silver thread. This detail enhances Erik's ethereal presence, a tribute to his role as Christine's Angel of Music.
The exterior back panel showcases white and silver sequins, beads, and thread work, featuring a spider web and Black Widow motif. This design element is a nod to Erik's identification with spiders, as described in the Kay novel. The embroidered Black Widow matches the silver spider cape chain on his lapels.

Here is a small preview of the upcoming launch of PHANTOM. This adaptation follows the events of Phantom of the Opera and Phantom simultaneously, with Erik relaying his childhood to Christine during her first five days of captivity in the underground apartment.

ERIK’S DESIGNS 1/5
As I gear up to launch my adaptation of "Phantom" on Webtoons, I'm thrilled to share my conceptual sketches with you. Today, it's the man, the myth, the legend, Erik: The Phantom of the Opera himself!
Inspired by the Susan Kay book, I've delved into Erik's facial development from childhood to adulthood, considering how his deformity might evolve with age and hormonal changes. One unique feature is his darkly tinted fingers, indicating chronic poor blood circulation due to Raynaud’s. His facial deformity is based on the Phandom theory that Erik was born with congenital Syphilis, a concept I want to explore in the series (as well as Erik being on the ASD spectrum, inspired by Ramin Karimloo’s characterization.)
I've experimented with various interpretations of his deformity, balancing accuracy to Gaston Leroux's novel while allowing him the ability to convey nuanced levels of emotion.
