Characters who are like “this is probably bad” and then proceed to internalise it instead of telling anyone

He just needs a second.

Thinking about how one of them wakes up early, eats properly, and has his life together.

And the other one survives on coffee and bad decisions.

And somehow they balance each other out.

He tries to take care of him. He lets him.

Rory is not a morning person. Owen absolutely is.

he doesn’t ask what happened

he just stays

Some characters don’t talk about what they’ve been through

they just…redirect it

into music

into drawing

into anything that lets it out without having to say it

he says he’s fine

but the music hasn’t stopped in days

I love writing moments where a character is bracing for fear or rejection

And instead someone just stays.

Those moments always matter more than the big ones to me

the first time it happens

she doesn’t let go

He acts like he hates it.

He doesn’t.

it’s fine until it isn’t

[rrroryatwood]

he’s not controlling it

he’s holding it back

[rrroryatwood]

Ethan doesn’t ask what happened

he just stays

like if he keeps it quiet

Rory won’t run

he draws it instead of saying it

it’s easier that way

he says he’s fine

but the music hasn’t been off in three days
