things to never forget ⨠by @alex_elle
i want to be given verbal encouragement by a dog who speaks in a deep otherworldly voiceĀ
GOD, I MISS THEM!!!
no offense but Iāve never gotten over anything thatās happened to me in my life
Filming the epilogue with Theo.
They play in the meadow. The dancing girl with the dark hair and blue eyes. The boy with blond curls and grey eyes, struggling to keep up on his chubby toddler legs. My chlldren, who donāt know they play on a graveyard.
Deep in the meadow under the willow A bed of grass, a soft green pillow Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes And when again they open, the sun will rise
Here itās safe, here itās warm Here the daisies guard you from every harm Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true Here is the place where I love you - Mockingjay epilogue
epilogue
They play in the Meadow. The dancing girl with the dark hair and blue eyes. The boy with blond curls and gray eyes, struggling to keep up with her on his chubby toddler legs. It took five, ten, fifteen years for me to agree. But Peeta wanted them so badly. When I first felt her stirring inside of me, I was consumed with a terror that felt as old as life itself. Only the joy of holding her in my arms could tame it. Carrying him was a little easier, but not much.
The questions are just beginning. The arenas have been completely destroyed, the memorials built, there are no more Hunger Games. But they teach about them at school, and the girl knows we played a role in them. The boy will know in a few years. How can I tell them about that world without frightening them to death? My children, who take the words of the song for granted:
Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.
Here itās safe, here itās warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.
My children, who donāt know they play on a graveyard.
Peeta says it will be okay. We have each other. And the book. We can make them understand in a way that will make them braver. But one day Iāll have to explain about my nightmares. Why they came. Why they wonāt ever really go away.
Iāll tell them how I survive it. Iāll tell them that on bad mornings, it feels impossible to take pleasure in anything because Iām afraid it could be taken away. Thatās when I make a list in my head of every act of goodness Iāve seen someone do. Itās like a game. Repetitive. Even a little tedious after more than twenty years.Ā
But there are much worse games to play.
The definition of outgoing. Always on, always funny. So caring and considerate of people around her. She speaks from her heart, in real life and as an actress. People crave authenticity, and she has that. The first thing she said to him ā apropos of nothing ā was, āImagine getting a catheter ā oh my god, right?ā A few seconds later, she was on to the subject of demon possessions. āIt was the craziest, weirdest conversation Iād ever had,ā Josh says, āand our relationship has lived up to that ā itās been weird and wonderful all along the way. Jen has no filter whatsoever.
Josh Hutcherson about Jennifer Lawrence, their relationship & first meeting (x)
Important question: Do you think Katniss and Peeta went to second base on the beach in catching fire?
This is sooo an important question. :)
I say yes.Ā
I mean how could they not have? They were in their underwear, making out for at least twenty minutes, wrapped around each other????Ā
Katniss didnāt want to stop. Katniss didnāt let Peeta stop. They were there.
There was a lot more of this with a lot less clothing.
thatās how you play the BLUES
Applause please, the dog makes MUSIC.Ā
Heās looking for the right key to start his solo performance.
How bittersweet this is⦠Time flies by so fast.
Oh, wow. itās been a while. A long, long while. And how I miss this. How I miss those days. Those crazy fun days.Ā
Just finish reading the first book again and it seems clear that Katniss knew she had feelings for peeta that she was falling in love with him. Do you think that it was fear that kept her from being honest with herself when she told him it was just apart of the act to save them?
Definitely. Fear plays a big part of her emotion and reaction at the end of The Hunger Games.Ā
I want to clarify something that often gets misconstrued: Katniss doesnāt say it was an act to save them:
āIt was all for the Games,ā Peeta says. āHow you acted.ā
āNot all of it,ā I say, tightly holding on to my flowers.
āThen how much? No, forget that. I guess the real question is whatās going to left when we get home?ā he says.
āI donāt know. The closer we get to District Twelve, the more confused I get,ā I say. He waits for further explanation, but noneās forthcoming.
THG, ch 27
Itās almost this understood thing that Katniss says it was all an act, discounting everything that happened in the Games. She was simply confused.
I do believe fear was a big part of her confusion with her feelings. We have to go back to her initial reasoning for not wanting to be married or to be with someone: she was afraid of loving someone so much that it would destroy her if she lost him.Ā
All those emotions, fears and anxieties donāt go away because sheās endured the Games and come out a Victor with this friend/Victor/lover who she has confusing feelings for.Ā
The last paragraphs of THG explain it perfectly:
I want to tell him that heās not being fair. That we were strangers. That I did what it took to stay alive, to keep us both alive in the arena. That I canāt explain how things are with Gale because I donāt know myself. That itās not good loving me because Iām never going to get married anyway and heād just end up hating me later instead of sooner. That if I do have feelings for him, it doesnāt matter because Iāll never be able to afford the kind of love that leads to a family, to children. And how can he? How can he after what weāve just been through?
I also want to tell him how much I already miss him. But that wouldnāt be fair on my part.
THG, ch 27, emphasis mine
Katniss has all these expectations associated with having feelings for someone else and sheās already decided that she canāt allow that in her life, but then Peeta happens. He messes it all up and makes her feel feelings she never wanted to feel or thought she could feel.
She waffles between her convictions and the very real desires she feels toward Peeta. We see it here and we see it again in Catching Fire where she states the way she wants to feel, or should be feeling, but then immediately follows it up with missing him or wanting to be in Peetaās arms. Her final confession on the beach of āI need youā is Katniss finally admitting these feelings sheās wavered between since the beginning.Ā
So, yes, fear plays a part, but what 16-year-old girl doesnāt have fear attached confessed feelings?
Thanks for this Ask and Iām sorry it took me so long to answer it! :)
Bare-chested Peeta holding a toastbaby...
ā¦itās just one more beautiful thing to think about on this fine Peeta Sunday!
Oh yes please! Ā Happy Peeta Sunday folks! Ā Still the best damn day of the week!

But Peeta wanted them so badly.
