found him again on one of my criminal minds rewatching binges. anybody remember this guy
I know rooster teeth had a whole fucking host of problems and haven't watched their stuff in years but I still shed a tear for another day another internet group getting bought out by big media companies because "they're successful" and then being shut down because they don't make enough profit for wall street. let things stay small. not everything needs to be contract deals and billboards the beauty of the internet should be that there's thousands of little things for people to find the niche they like, not that anything that becomes popular is obviously the next big franchise and we need to throw millions of dollars at it. We live in an era where big companies are taking everything small from us. Heardle getting bought out by Spotify and then shut down bc they realized it cost more than it made. capitalism and the Internet are not built for each other.
lotsa things to say but i donāt have all the words
what i will say is that the number one reason iām sad is because this really feels like the final nail in the coffin for the RT community as we know it. throughout all the controversies and bullshit the community has dwindled a lot, and now that the company is gone and all the employees and shows have been left to fend for themselves, it really feels like itās over
thank you to everyone who made anything for RT content over the years. the art, the edits, the fics, all of it. whether you got five notes or ten thousand, your creations mattered and were the backbone of this community. thank you to everyone who supported RT cast/crew in their endeavors outside of their work, for participating in twitch streams or side projects. thank you for speaking up when the company was in the wrong. thank you for all the years that you made me feel like i fit in here with all of you.
keep making your art and being kind and loving what you love.
iāll see yāall around.
i know everyone is reeling and freaking out but i do wanna clear some stuff up because i know some Facts and i feel like there is a little bit of misinformation being spread out of not proof reading because we're all angry.
they had an all hands meeting, and announced it then, but the variety article went up before the meeting was over which sucks.
there also was an email that was sent out, so people who were not at work today might have seen stuff on twitter before seeing the email which is upsetting.
you guys are not reading the entire line/taking a part of a sentence out of context from the article. "Parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, after unsuccessful attempts to sell the unprofitable fandom, gaming and comedy entertainment division, is shutting down Rooster Teethās operations." it's not saying the fandom is unprofitable, it's saying fandom, gaming, and comedy entertainment division. because they have a podcast about fandom but also are known for curating a fandom. the entire THING is unprofitable.
