Leah in my AU. Character Analysis. Part 2
Meanwhile, her older sister had already enrolled in music school. The family's income had dwindled, but her parents were struggling to cope. And now, the time has come for her to enroll. Everyone is fussing, some are hesitant, but Leah is calm. During her summer jobs, she buys herself expensive perfume and changes her wardrobe. On her first day at university, dressed in her best attire with an elegant handbag, she immediately notices a group of wealthy girls. She acts cool, and begins to approach them from a distance. A week passes, and she's almost accepted into the group. But something still gives her away: one of the girls narrows her eyes and whispers something to her friend. Leah is nervous. A guy walks by, seemingly a typical nerd. The group starts giggling, Leah makes an overly sarcastic comment in a mocking voice, and the entire hallway erupts in laughter. The girls invite her to a café with them tomorrow.
That night, she can't sleep.
She behaved disgustingly towards someone who did nothing to her... But the damage has already been done, she's already been accepted into the company, you can't just up and wipe everything out.
The years fly by. Get-togethers, clubbing, exams. Her social circle keeps expanding, she has many connections, her grades have dropped a little...but she knows who to bring a bottle of wine to so that her exam score is instantly improved to a better one. It's wrong. And she knows it's unfair. However, the voice of conscience is becoming quieter. She tried so hard. She deserved it.
In fact, she doesn't particularly like anyone around her. But... they've already promised her a job at the Brain Department.
She'll finally be able to stop being in anyone's shadow. Opportunities like these...they only come once in a lifetime. Her family will never have to skimp on anything again. She'll help her younger sister buy an apartment. She'll definitely come to her older sister's wedding with a generous gift.
Now she's the hero of this family.
All her life, she was dependent on the opinions of society. The main conflict in her life was built on the opposition between her personal principles and rules of conduct and what she had to do to integrate into society and achieve such results in life. This conflict culminates in the film, when she gives Ozzy a second chance, despite his reputation as a loser and her usual avoidance of such people for the sake of her reputation, and then openly criticizes the mayor, sending messages to her hypothalamus and raising the alarm. She also provides Frank with insight into what's important to his daughter.
She still feels ashamed of many of her actions, and she sincerely regrets having followed the dictates of her surroundings for so long. And she strives to be the best version of herself as an adult. Leia easily connects with Ozzy and Drix, and later with Thrax. In a sense, she's been in everyone's shoes.
But if she were ever given the chance to travel back in time and live her life over again, to correct her mistakes and always adhere to her moral compass...she would refuse. Too much is at stake....
