Aérotrain I-80, a French experimental high-speed hovertrain prototype developed between 1965 and 1977.
Technology: It was a Tracked Air Cushion Vehicle (TACV) that floated on a thin cushion of air rather than running on wheels, eliminating friction.
Propulsion: The prototype pictured was propelled by a large rear-mounted propeller powered by a turboshaft engine, designed to reach speeds over 250 km/h.
Fate: The project was abandoned in 1977 due to the oil crisis, lack of funding, and competition from the conventional TGV high-speed rail system.
custom-built, restomod 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 featuring Soul Red tri-coat paint, a modern 5.0L Coyote V8 engine, and a RideTech air suspension system.
Engine: The car is powered by a Gen 2 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, mated to a 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission.
Builder: The vehicle was built by TM Customs in Alabama and was designed to blend modern performance with classic aesthetics.
Awards: This specific build has won five Goodguys Top 10 Builder's Choice awards.
Features: Notable custom work includes a RideTech ShockWave airbag suspension, a Currie 9-inch rear end, and a modified dash from a 1960 Impala.
