what the actual fuck is wrong with the pitt "fandom"
I've been part of it for maybe a couple of days, and already I've seen so much crap that either makes zero sense or just irritates me (not just the usual fandom crap, like idiotic ship discourse etc.). Which sucks cus I love the show.
For example, some dude on tiktok was saying that he felt like Robby didn't do enough when ICE agents showed up at the hospital. That he was just trying to get them out of the building instead of "standing up" for the detained woman. Making her the problem and not having any "humanity".
I'm sorry, but what exactly were you expecting him to do?
Robby is the senior emergency attending physician. His responsibility is quite literally ensuring safety and efficiency. To keep the hospital functioning smoothly and to save as many lives as possible. ICE showing up actively disrupted hospital operations. Patients were panicking and leaving, staff were going home early etc.
Of course he felt for the woman but realistically, what fucking options did he have? Was he supposed to physically confront armed federal agents, throw them out of the building and hide her?
If he had done something like that, what happens next? ICE comes back with more agents and more guns. Now you've got a fullblown crisis on your hands, and the hospital could be forced to shut down entirely until the situation is resolved. Affecting every single person who needs care.
In that position, doing "more" could very easily have meant making everything way fucking worse for everyone involved.
I get wanting characters to take a stand. I really do, especially against ICE (and I feel like his frustration/hate was fairly obvious when he started fucking YELLING AT THEM), but takes like this completely ignore the reality of the situation and the responsibilities that come with his role. Jesse fought back and guess what, they still took the lady and now the hospital's down yet another nurse.
Sometimes the best someone can do is prevent things from spiraling even further out of control.
I wish I could be as excited as everybody else seems to be about "season 3" of Good Omens, I really do.
Why I'm unfortunately not:
It feels like it's going to be a paper dove.
What do I mean by that? Well, I think of first 2 seasons like a pair of real doves. And sure, the final season/special episode is going to be "a dove". It's probably going to be a very pretty "dove", with pearly white "feathers" and a sharp "beak", but ultimately it's made out of paper. Comparatively fragile and just, not the same. Not necessarily bad, but it can never have the same soul, you know? However well-made and pretty a paper dove is, it's still not a real dove.
I obviously hope that I'm dead wrong, but that's the way I'm currently feeling about season 3.

The fact that we could've had a full third season is killing me.
It's not even a 2 hour movie, it's a ~90 minute long final episode. 90 minutes to wrap everything up in a satisfying way? I'm not saying it's impossible, but it sure as fuck isn't gonna be easy.
One of the original writers is dead and the other is allegedly a horrid creep, who removed himself from the project. Is it really going to be true to the characters? (Assuming that they're not going to use anything that Neil wrote for season 3). Is it really going to have the same Good Omens whimsical spirit that I've come to crave from this show/these characters?

Admittedly, this all probably feels like a bigger deal to me than most (people are likely just happy that the ending of season 2 isn't the end) because I had a deadline.
I was 28 when season 2 finished, and I had always imagined that I wouldn't live to see 30. I don't know why, it was just a deadline that I had chosen for myself. I don't want to grow old, I don't contribute anything to the world anyway etc. Then I realised that, what I thought would be a whole season 3, would come out after I turned 30, so I had to live. I literally told myself, "Well damn, I'm gonna have to stay alive because I wanna see how Good Omens ends".
It was such a bizarre feeling/moment that I almost wrote an ask to Neil here on tumblr, explaining the situation.
And here I am, alive at 30 (31 in a couple of months)... The show is beautiful, the book is beautiful, and I miss being able to think and talk about them both without this footnote of "yes I know one of the authors is (allegedly) horrible." Like this is probably how Harry Potter fans feel, and I hate it. (I enjoyed Harry Potter a lot when I was younger, but it was very easy for me to drop as an adult when I learned about Rowling. I can't drop Good Omens, not even a little.)
