I've been working on a review of Pathologic 3, and I've come to some conclusions writing it.

1) Pathologic 3 has a lot more moving parts than I realized, and they all affect at least another moving part. It's amazing how well they all work together in the game.

2) Putting words to what I like and don't like have made me appreciate the game even more, and the positives out way any complaints by a very large margin.

3) Most of my biggest complaints come from the high expectations the rest of the game has given me. In a lesser game they would be minor quibbles.

4) People who do detailed reviews are gods. This work is more difficult than I imagined, and I didn't think it was easy.

5) A lot of the difficulty of Pathologic 3 can be overcome the same way you overcome the difficulty in Pathologic 2 even though they play differently. Knowing the map makes worlds of difference.

DID YOU KNOW that sometimes characters lie. out loud to others and internally to themselves, and it'll happen right there on the page. other times they are just flat out wrong and don't know it. oftentimes they don't ever find that out. a sizable portion of any story is decidedly not cold hard fact.

rlly fascinating phenomenon to me is when a character is extremely popular, and that popularity seems understandable enough because they've got something interesting going on, and then you look at the fandom and realize 99% of their fans don't actually care about engaging with any of the things that make them interesting and instead seem to be fans of an imaginary milquetoast version that exists solely for ship and/or angst content and is so far removed from the canon character they might as well be an unrelated OC at this point
