   Rhaegar simply glanced over at Jon once he was brought before him. This was his son, the one he never even got a chance to meet before he was taken from him. The child from his dead lover, the fiery wolf maid that he loved more than any other. Oh how he longed for this day. A day he was unsure would even come.

   A small smile played on his full lips. This was the first time in a VERY long time that Rhaegar felt this happy. Now he could finally meet his beloved son.

   For the briefest of moments he resented Ned for keeping him hidden from him for so long. Alas, a part of him did realize that Ned probably assumed he died at the Battle of the Trident, but still he could’ve returned his son once he knew what really happened.

Rhaegar laid his hand on Jon shoulder, squeezing it gently.

---------“Come Jaehaerys. We have much to catch up on.” He greeted calmly, an almost childish glee coming over him like a small wave of long lost happiness.

CANON DIVERGENT INFO!

{This is also in my blog by the in the about page for future reference. It’s down below the part that says ***CANON DIVERGENT STUFF STARTS HERE*** }

Rhaegar narrowly defeated Robert, suffering significant injuries due to it. He has many scars littering his torso from the battle. Along with the physical side effects come his mental scars. He has become even more melancholic due to the events of Robert’s Rebellion, but often times it can be a bit hard for him to feel anything (at least noticeably). So many terrible things have happened and his life has changed so much that at times, he just feels numb to it all. It’s so hard for him to process that his mind at times emotionally shuts down and he seems to grow cold from it all.

When he returns to the Tower of Joy and finds Lyanna dead and his newborn son gone, he is consumed with sadness. For much of his life, he blames himself for her death and longs to find the son he fathered with her. Alas, he doesn’t, for Ned Stark has taken Jon Snow in as his bastard without his knowledge.

As for his father being slain, Rhaegar does grieve his loss in some ways, for he was still his father, regardless of all the cruel things that he did while he was king. However, now that he is gone, Rhaegar is now the King of Westeros. As king, he must now try to amend all the wrongs his father had done, along with reunifying the seven kingdoms. It’s a hard and taxing job, but it is one that Rhaegar knows he needs to do, if the realm is to ever be healed once more

As for Rhaella, Daenerys, and Viserys, I do see them as still being in King’s Landing. Varys had no need to smuggle them away since Rhaegar did win the rebellion. Since Rhaegar has no children (since he doesn’t know where Jon Snow is) he has appointed Viserys as his heir, and Dany after him, should Viserys die somehow.

I would love to do an AU where Rhaegar gets remarried. Since in his main verse, he hasn’t remarried after Elia due to feeling guilty about all that happened after Robert’s Rebellion, I think it could be a fun thread to explore. I would see it starting off as something political, but eventually, if he grows to love them, he’d become fiercely protective and loyal to them. He’d also be fighting with himself a lot, worrying if he might do something to get them hurt or killed as well. IDK I have a lot of feels for this type of thread and it’s really different for every muse I might try this with so yeah... XD
