RubyKaigi 2014 のボランティアは金銭的な報酬はありませんが、スピーカーとも一般参加とも違ったカンファレンス体験ができます。慌てて補足しておくと、Organizing Teamも金銭的な報酬をもらって運営しているわけではありません……。ボランティア特典としては、次のようなものを予定しています:

会期中の運営お手伝いスタッフ, 若干名(募集は終了しました)

いわゆる「当日スタッフ」です。受付、運営、KaigiFreaks のお手伝いです。 RubyKaigi 2014 の会期中の運営のお手伝いスタッフを募集します。コードでなかなかRubyコミュニティに貢献できていないのだけれど、普段の感謝を労働力で示したい皆さんを若干名募集します。応募資格のない人がいるので、下記の要項をお読みのうえ、2014 at rubykaigi dot org 宛にメールでご応募ください。

お仕事の内容

会期前の設営、会期中の受付、KaigiFreaksの配信、運営スタッフ作業、会期終了後の撤収をお手伝いいただきます。

作業の状況や内容によっては、本編のトークを見ることができないかもしれません。

会期前日(17日(水))の午後から現地で作業を手伝ってくれる方を歓迎します(必須ではありません)。

会期3日間のお手伝いが可能な方を歓迎します。

日常英会話ができなくはない方を歓迎します(必須ではありません)

お金がないけどRubyKaigiを見てみたい学生の皆さんは、学割や最終日の無料参加も選択肢としてご検討ください。

日本語話者のトークの英語への同時通訳のサポート, 若干名(募集は終了しました)

RubyKaigi 2014 では、昨年に引き続き日本語によるトークに基本的にプロの同時通訳を入れます(日本語から英語です)。会期前から同時通訳の準備、会期中の同時通訳担の方との事前打ち合わせや進行をサポートするチームです。チームリーダーも含めて募集します!

お仕事の内容

会期前のスライド英訳など、同時通訳の準備のために必要な資料の作成、スピーカーからの資料の取り立て

会期中の同時通訳担当の方との事前打合せ、会期中のトークについての進行のサポート

英語セッションでの質疑応答での日本語→英語、英語→日本語での通訳のサポート(オプション;余力があれば)

応募にあたって

Rubyにまつわる技術的な内容について、文字ベースで日本語と英語のコミュニケーションに不自由しない方を歓迎します。

会期中に現場に足を運んでいただける方だとありがたいですが、事前準備についてはリモートなのでインターネットさえつながれば、地球上のどこからでも参加可能です

会期中の同時通訳担当の方との事前打ち合せに参加していただけると大変ありがたいです(15 - 20分程度だと思います)。日本語の技術用語などを、英語でどう言うのが適切か、などのアドバイスをいただけると大変ありがたいです。

申し訳ありませんが、会期中のスタッフ宿の提供については保証がありません(そこまでベッドを確保できていません)。事前準備でのお手伝いが中心になると思いますので、悪しからずご了承ください。

gihyo.jpに掲載するカンファレンスレポート記事の執筆です。keynoteを中心に執筆いただきます

網羅的なレポートではありませんし、エクストリーム・スポーツでもありません

Rubyとそれに関連する周辺的な技術事情についての知識が、出版社の編集者の方よりは多い方を歓迎します

3日間かけて3つのkeynoteがおこなわれるので、複数人のチームで分担したほうが安全かも、と思っています

レポート執筆料が技術評論社さまから支払われます(金額などはお問い合わせください。執筆者が複数の場合の配分は山分けなど、レポートチームで决めてください)

記事の構成などはgihyo.jpの担当者の方とご相談ください

We have just opened the CFP form for RubyKaigi 2014!

You can submit your talk proposal via http://rubykaigi.org/2014/call-for-presentations

RubyKaigi 2014 will be held on 18th-20th September in Tokyo. To make it a great conference, WE WANT YOU!

We are looking for great talks and great speakers. ANY TOPICS RELATED TO RUBY AND/OR RUBYISTS are welcomed!

Application DEADLINE: 2014 June 11th (Wed) 19:00:00 (JST)

Selection result will be notified in June, hopefully: 2014 June 29th (Sun)

Registration: Selected speakers need not to buy the Kaigi ticket.

We’ll keep your ticket at cost if your proposal is rejected.

Travel Expenses: We can not afford your travel expenses to/from RubyKaigi :<

Here are some information about the venue and the Kaigi:

We plan to have 2 to 3 multi tracks, in various room sizes.

We plan to have simultaneous translation from Japanese to English (though EN->JA is not planned. We expect Japanese participants to understand English).

Social stream projection may be available in all these rooms (but it's tentative and we can't guarantee that).

To our great pleasure, many who attended this year's RubyKaigi have expressed to us how much they enjoyed the event. However, some have also expressed concern about what they felt was an atmosphere which was, at times, potentially alienating to women. As organizers, we take responsibility for this atmosphere and apologize for not having done enough to prevent it.

It is of utmost importance to us that RubyKaigi be a technology conference that is welcoming to everyone. Failing in this regard threatens the future of our community.

We look forward to holding another RubyKaigi in 2014, and sincerely hope that nobody in our community feels dissuaded from attending due to the issues mentioned above. About your nametag @ kaigi

RubyKaigi has a tradition of using postcard-sized name tags. You write your name very big to your tag. Everyone can recognize each other.

Every year we have a place to write name tags at Kaigi venue but people tend to write their name too small or with too thin lines.... So they didn't get the advance of the big tag. Please, write your name big.

To encourage your smooth communication we also recommend you to prepare your name tag, with really big typeface, optionally with twitter IDs and gravatars and so on.

The dimension of the area you write your name is witdh:90mm x height:100mm; which is the same as past several Kaigi.

Let's prepare our own nice name tag, and enjoy communication with other Rubyists!

iRubyKaigi'13 のご紹介

iRubyKaigiでお馴染み？の伊藤ソフトデザインのかつよしです。こんにちは。 RubyKaigiセカンドシーズンとしてた新たな開催となるRubyKaigi 2013を今から心待ちにしています。

さて、iRubyKaigi'13がリリースとなりました。 iRubyKaigiのファンの方、そうでない方もご利用頂けたら幸いです。 iRubyKaigi’13のダウンロードはこちらから

iRubyKaigiはRubyKaigiシーズン1の終わりと共に終わる予定でしたが、RubyKaigiがシーズン2として帰ってきて作ろうかどうかと思っている所で、咳さんを応援しようとしたら後に引けなくなり、今回も作ってしまいました。 6/1 10:00からの咳さんのセッションはお見逃しなく。

昨年iOSの新たな開発環境としてRubyMotionが発売になりました。この事はまつもとさんのツイートで知ったのですが、3時間というもの凄く長い時間もかけて悩んだ末に思い切って購入する事にしました。これまではiRubyKaigiで側面からRubyKaigiを応援する形でしたが、RubyMotionのおかげでRubyを使う事でも役立てて嬉しいかぎりです。

今回のiRubyKaigi'13では時間軸をリニアに表現し、各コマの時間がどのくらいになっているか視覚的に比較できる様に表現してみました。 LUNCH BREAKが意外と時間があるんだなと作ってみて思いました。そして、今までiPadにも対応したいと思ってましたが、初めてiPadに対応しました。といってもUniversalにしたらそのまま動いてしまっただけで、iPad向けに特別な事をした訳ではありません(^^;

そんなこんなしてたら、今まで便利だったスピーカー毎の一覧や、検索、お気に入りまで手を入れる時間がなくなってしまって、代わりにWebViewでではありますが、TwitterやFacebookのタイムラインを割と簡単に確認できる様にしてみました。

それではiRubyKaigi’13が皆さんと会えるのを楽しみにしてます。

RubyHiroba 2013, the play field for Rubyists -- June 2

RubyHiroba 2013 is a single day, multi-tracked(it'll be 3 - 4 tracks, we hope) Ruby related event which will be held in downtown Tokyo, in front of Shinagawa St. on the day after RubyKaigi 2013 -- June 2.

Hiroba(広場) means 'play field' in Japanese. You rubyists can find many chances to hang out, join some workshop, tutorial, BOF, give a lightning talk and talk to awesome rubyist come from all around the world!

RubyHiroba is free to join! it's totally supported by Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd. <3

At last, we've opened the CFP form for RubyKaigi 2013! You can submit your talk proposal via [http://goo.gl/s6GEQ](http://goo.gl/s6GEQ) RubyKaigi 2013 will be held on May 31 to Jun 1, in Tokyo. To make it a great conference, WE WANT YOU! We are looking for great talks and great speakers. ANY TOPICS RELATED TO RUBY AND/OR RUBYISTS are welcomed! - Application DEADLINE: **2013-02-20(Wed) 19:00:00(JST)** - Remember to keep a carbon copy of your form inputs before pressing the "submit" button. - Selection result will be (hopefully) notified at: **2013-03-03(Sun)** Here are some information about the venue and the Kaigi: - We plan to have 2 to 3 multi tracks, in various room sizes. - We plan to have simultaneous translation from Japanese to English (though EN->JA is not planned.We expect Japanese participants to understand English). - Social stream projection may be available in all these rooms (but it's tentative and we can't guarantee that). Our Rough Timeline for the RubyKaigi 2013

Hello world where Rubyists are living on the post Mayan calendar age! This is [@kakutani](http://twitter.com/kakutani) from [RubyKaigi](http://rubykaigi.org/2013) Team. We have some good news and bad news for you Rubyists. First, the good news: we RubyKaigi Team are very happy and proud to officially announce that the RubyKaigi has been rebooted in 2013. Second, the bad news: we're late for the ideal schedule. In the past few weeks, we've got a bunch of emails which is asking about our timeline(thank you guys for your interest in our conference!). So, here's our rough timeline to the RubyKaigi 2013: * ~Mid Jan, 2013: Call for Spnsors, Call for Presentations * Early Feb, 2013: Deadline for submitting your proposals * Late Feb: Let you know the proposal you submitted is accepted/rejected * **Late Feb: 1st Batch Tickets(Super EarlyBird) -> 30,000 JPY** * Mar: Publish the session schedule on rubykaigi.org (we hope so) * **Mar: 2nd Batch Tickets(EarlyBird) -> 37,800 JPY** * **Apr: 3rd Batch Tickets(Regular Price) -> 45,000 JPY** * Mid Apr: Call for Lightning Talks * Early May: Let you know your proposal for the lightning talk is accepted/rejected * **May 30 - Jun 1: The RubyKaigi 2013** And we're planning some discounts, such as 'Ruby Committer Discount', 'Student Discount' and 'Rails Girls in Japan Alumnae'.
