I really want to know what’s going on with that project. I asked Tracy about it a couple years back at NARBC Arlington, and she said they were hoping the animal would produce that season. Haven’t seen anything announced since then, though.

These babies are really dependent on humidity to determine firing up or down. Top pics were after being kept on paper, fired down. Bottom pics were taken 2 hours later after he was put back on a thin layer of water. Same snake, essentially the same lighting conditions and location.

(Should also add, in my past comparison, Bob was being kept on water and Cream baby was kept on paper prior to those shots. Cream was moved back to water and is dark again. It’s very drastic!)

Reasons I sometimes despair

Reasons people give for having to rehome their reptile:

My child needs a docile snake to handle right now, the one we have is nippy, and we don’t want to spend time working on taming her down

My child went to camp for two months

My child lost interest in caring for the reptile

Like, who’s the fucking ADULT in your house? Who is supposed to teach them long-term commitment and responsibility? Who’s supposed to teach them patience with living things? Who’s supposed to teach them reverence for all life?

Would they do the same if it were a fucking dog?
