In which SFX reviews and likes The Almighty Johnsons. Worth a read and revisit of the episodes.
Write to SFX if you get a chance, and request more TAJ reviews. They’ve apparently cut down on their reviews; I contacted the author on Twitter and found out that SFX only contracted with him for five reviews this season — and only actually published four. The Season 2 reviews were terrific; maybe a little fan pressure will lead them to continue reviewing Season 3.
Actually, The Almighty Johnsons fandom is the best, You all never make me want to rip out my hair, you’re not sexist, racist, jerkwads, and I’ve never seen anyone put down anyone who has a different opinion. You’re all awesome people.
Regarding the tag: Not to worry. Despite our nutty politics and our weird sports, most of us Americans don't bite! :-) I'm looking forward to getting all my friends here in the USA to watch the show next year; only gloating a little over being an early adopter!
And, yes, this is a friendly fandom. Hope it gets a new lease on lfe in 2014!
If all the mortals lost their memories of the Gods when they returned to Asgard, then how did Dawn know she worked for J:Pr?!
I think she remembered her job -- she just forgot her boss!
Axl and Zeb needed a less manly plan!
No goodbye hug and a risky “hey let a complete stanger into your life” was their plan…..
I like to think Axl was partly right when he said “You won’t forget me, Zeb.” There would be plenty of reminders of Axl’s previous presence around the flat. And if Dawn’s video of her life with Ty could remind her that she was in love with him, then Zeb could eventually remember that Axl had been his best friend since childhood. I think that’s why Zeb instinctively trusted Axl without actually recognizing him.
Anders vs. Bragi
Maybe when Anders was worried about being bullied in Asgard, he was really recalling being bullied by bigger kids during his own childhood. In contrast, no one is likely to bully Bragi in Asgard. He may not be a warrior, but he's the rock star of the gods.
I started to sniffle a little when Odin saved Michele, and when Axl stepped aside so that Mike and Hanna could be together.
I teared up even more than that when Dawn remembered Ty.
Completely and totally lost it when Axl re-introduced himself to Zeb.
What about the others?
Besides the god/desse/s entrusted with the Ga, there are others scattered around locally and elsewhere. What happens to Derrick/Thor and Suzie/Saga, back in Whangamaungamoa? Suzy doesn't even know her other identity. And, most importantly -- what about Gaia? There must always be a living incarnation of Idunn. Surely something involving Gaia has to happen?
And another thing
Hanna kind of creeps me out.
A strange thing about the latest TAJ episode
Ty was behaving a lot like Mike, Mike was behaving somewhat like Anders, and Axl was behaving a little like Ty.
Toughest part of being a North American TAJ fan: Knowing that it aired for the first time while you were asleep, and it'll be awhile before you get to see it for yourself!

Frigg was supposed to be the next in line to get a body (but Idun took her place in Gaia’s body because she needed one etc etc) sooo Frigg would be 21 right
but this woman is middle aged
so it means that while Frigg was in that body, she was also waiting in line and could have got into Gaia’s body so there would have been two Frigg ???
I don’t think that’s possible ??? Gods ‘join the line’ when their bodies die
so this woman is still not the Frigg I guess ??????
Siobhan Marshall is only a few years older than Emmett Skilton -- she just looks older with a lot of makeup (Hanna) than she did without it (Mia). She's also playing the two characters very differently. Mia was pretty much Axl in a dress. As a businesswoman in the bridal-fashion industry, Hanna has a much more mature presence, and dresses very elegantly at work.
That said, Hanna is obviously supposed to be at least Axl's age. So, it's possible that the prophecy that Gaia would become Frigg was wrong for more than one reason -- the main reason being that there already was a living Frigg by the time Gaia turned 21. If Hanna really is Frigg, Gaia would have become Papatuanuku had Idunn not jumped the queue.
Has anyone watched “The Almighty Johnsons” because it looks like an interesting show (not exactly about the Norse Gods but somewhat) and I was thinking of watching it but if it’s problematic or lame, meh there’s no point. Plus, oh good grief, I have enough fandoms as is haha.

It's a great show. It does its magic through dialogue and characters, rather than with special effects. If you've never seen it before, start with the first ep (which is terrific) and watch them in order.

Frigg is identical to Mia — the female form of Axl/Odin — who showed up in in S2E5. Axl woke up as a woman, dubbed Mia because, as Axl tried to explain, — “It’s me … Uh ….”
I’m curious… How did you first come to start watching The Almighty Johnsons, and what about it is the thing you like/love the most about it?
For me, I found it through tumblr, because people were using gifs from the show for modern!Fili. I’d heard of the show before, but I didn’t watch before…
I first saw it while channel-surfing through the in-flight entertainment menu on Air New Zealand. I was immediately hooked. (I’m not from New Zealand, and I don’t travel for work much, so it was just luck that I got sent on a work-related overseas trip while AirNZ was promoting the show!)
I find it a bit strange that I’ve seen a lot of people explaining what Anders and Gaia got up to with their gods and Mike’s behaviour with his god and so forth, while at the same time complaining that Axl is being immature and need to get his temper/paranoia under control.

Couldn’t agree more. Axl is maturing into both Odin and a human adult at the same time. It’s a combustible mixture!
Whatever happened to Ty not being able to taste as Hodr, he could taste Olaf’s dopekies fine. Is it not he can only not taste when he’s angry/having dark thouhts?
That’s what Olaf said the latest theory in the last episode. He was probably angry about a lot of things before he thought he got rid of Hodr, and now he’s experienced happiness, so it’s easier for him to feel.
EDIT: dopekies has to possibly my new favorite word ever.
I think it has to do with Ty’s improved control over his powers. Hod’s cold nature affected all of Ty’s emotions and senses when we first met him, but not now. He loses some control when he’s angry, and he can use cold in self-defense, but Hod doesn’t interfere with his love life or his senses any more.
What about Rob?
What if Coma Rob really is a Norse god, but his head injury happened before his 21st birthday? He would have become a god without being aware of it. That could also be a reason for his suddenly speaking Old Norse before he woke up all those years later.
