The Girl and the Universe
There was once a girl, full of big dreams and hope, but the universe said: “Give her more than she can cope.”
Then there was a girl, with her quiet disposition, and the universe said: “You are lacking ambition.”
There was once a girl, always happy and bright, but the universe said: “We need to dim the light.”
Then there was a girl, retreated into the dark. and the universe said: “She has lost her spark.”
There was once a girl, she was kind and trusting, but the universe said: “I think she needs adjusting.”
Then there was a girl, the walls she built so high, and the universe said: “Alone is how you’ll die.”
There was once a girl, comfortable in her own skin, but the universe said: “You must always be thin.”
Then there was a girl, she never ate in school, and the universe said: “You’ll still never be cool.”
There was once a girl, she was not afraid to feel, but the universe said: “Let’s make her hard as steel.”
Then there was a girl, void of expression, and the universe said: “You have depression.”
Now just exists a girl, a shell of her former self, for the universe had said: “Make her hate herself.”
