when we first entered shelter-in-place, i somehow managed to stay motivated and largely productive + creative for pretty much an entire year, but then when my ~*pandemic anniversary*~ hit it’s like a switch just turned off and i lost so much of my motivation and interest in things 😓
but you know what! sometimes bullet journals are unfinished! sometimes you don’t strike off most of your habit tracker! sometimes you don’t feel like partaking in what you used to enjoy! and even though this feeling might suck! i’m really trying to remind myself not to be extra hard on myself when this does happen!!

This is about Sci-Hub. yeah we get it.. gatekeep knowledge and protect the interests of capital…
Listen, this is serious.
Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.
nooo don’t use sites that make academic papers accessible to everyone, why would you do such a terrible thing
sometimes you say or do bad things while you’re in an awful mental place. sometimes you say things that are rude or uncalled for or manipulative. and i’m not going to hold that against you. mental illness is hard, and no one is perfect. but once you’re through that episode, you need to take steps to make amends. you need to apologize.
“i couldn’t help it, i was having a bad episode” is a justification, not an apology.
“i’m so fucking sorry, i fucked up, i don’t deserve to live, i should stop talking to anyone ever, i should die” is a second breakdown and a guilt trip. it is not an apology.
when you apologize, the focus should be on the person you hurt. “i’m sorry. i did something that was hurtful to you. even if i was having a rough time, you didn’t deserve to hear that,” is a better apology. if it was a small thing, you can leave it at that.
if you caused significant distress to the other person, this is a good time to talk about how you can minimize damage in the future. and again, even if it is tempting to say you should self-isolate and/or die, that is not a helpful suggestion. it will result in the person you’re talking to trying to talk you out of doing that, which makes your guilt the focus of the conversation instead of their hurt.
you deserve friendship, and you deserve support. but a supportive friend is not an emotional punching bag, and mental illness does not absolve you of responsibility for your actions. what you say during a mental breakdown doesn’t define you. how you deal with the aftermath though, says a lot.
This is the most carefully-nuanced discussion of this I think I have ever seen. Thank you for writing this.
[17/30] days of productivity // 23 May 21
Hello friends! Another day of productivity and I just studied a little bit today. As I said I started a new chapter in maths and did two exercises of it. It's pretty interesting, I like it. Also some of the holiday homework is going side by side. Have a great day💗

happy april, y’all! it’s been pretty cold still where I live, but I’m looking forward to warmer weather soon :)
my advisor meeting yesterday went well - and I’m on my way toward declaring my dual degree program! it’s been a bit stressful trying to organize all the courses I need into my four-year plan, but I think I’ve got it down now

hi beautiful!
ive been trying digital minimalism these days, and it's treating me well. ive deactivated both my instagram and facebook account, (YAYYYY) and i tell you, thats the moooost satisfying thing ive done.
my friends often ask me if i ever regretted, my answer will always be the same, a biG NO becaaause i feel so alive right now & dude i cringed thinking about reactivating my account.
how about tumblr? well.. tumblr has been quite a happy place (i feel productive here at least) and i have the self-control over it. PLUS i dont compare myself to others here and i love that.
love,
avril
The triumphant goodmorning tale of ME versus the extra sleep trap. After over a week of shameful losses I finally won today!
Also here is an illustrate of the nighttime end of it:
I was slipping again for a while but my sleeps are good this week! Yay!
once again I was bad about sleeps for a long time but this past week I have done good early sleeps woken up at 7 or so which is good. it is 9:03 right now so must get ready for do sleep soon.
wow this dinosaur really got things done this week! I’m happy for them!
