“Ah, Perry the platypus!”
“What an unexpected -“
“WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!”
“You’re trapped!”
“By societal convention!”
“Look! We’re in a fine dining environment. Everyone knows not to throw a scene in a fancy restaurant!”
“That’s right. You’re trapped. Sit down.”
This show is fucking brilliant.
did everyone else read that in his voice
I wrote it yesterday and I’ll write it again (and again): it’s been an absolute pleasure working in the room with Mike again. @michaeldantedimartino We’re only in the *very early* stages of development on this live-action adaptation, and right now it’s just a crew of us two, with some great execs and staff at Netflix helping us formulate the production plan. This is a recent photo from my private studio I’ve rented since the end of Korra, but I’ve already started packing it up, moving my music gear home, and getting ready to move a bunch of my furniture and books into our new offices at Netflix very soon.
Hype
I’ve been laughing at this stupid fucking video for 30 minutes
Yall sont understand this is the funniest thing ive experienced in weeks
holy fucking shit

“This guy seems like a serious person, but 10 minutes with him you realize… no, he’s not serious at all. Agh, throughout this interview, he’s been such a nuisance, soooo annoying! (The annoying Yuzuru was showing the beautiful shot he took of Tatsuki for the “Shots of Kanako and Yuzuru’s Friends” section in the ‘2013 Ladies Fan Book.’)” – Tatsuki Machida
Alina Zagitova / Evgenia Medvedeva + RT documentary moments. ♡
i never talk about these things but i can’t remain silent.
i know tumblr doesn’t give a SHIT when things happen in countries outside the “most popular ones” (such as the usa & england). it’s true, don’t lie to me. y’all don’t give A FUCK. not every issue and problem in said countries gets the appropriate exposure but in general shit shows up on the news WORLD FREAKING WIDE. you set up donations, you help out, your spread the word, you say “pray for x”……
southern europe is burning.
my country is burning.
people are dying - at home, on the road, trying to run away, in their cars.
yesterday my country had 300 active fires.
people are losing EVERYTHING they own.
i have a friend that is on a train right now passing through places that have been burnt to the ground and she says the smoke is so intense it’s getting inside the train and she can barely breathe.
and yet, even though several people (myself included) have been trying to bring awareness to what has been happening in southern europe… what we get from most of you, those not part of the countries suffering, is silence. we don’t ask for money, we don’t ask for shit other than a reblog to spread awareness… something you can delete in 24/48hrs if you wish.
i don’t know what to tell you. i’m angry. i’m frustrated. i’m disappointed. i feel like i’m screaming into the void. “a reblog does nothing” - you know that’s a damn lie, you know exposure always helps, you know people start paying attention when posts on social media become popular. my country in particular is a small one, we get ZERO exposure. y’all are only starting to figure out we even fucking exist bc of the shit we’ve been winning lately.
but hell, if the EU doesn’t give a shit, why should some user on tumblr dot com?
again, i don’t know what to tell you so i’ll let the images speak for themselves:
An image captured by a Nasa satellite shows a thick plume of smoke blowing southward from the Greek island of Chios over the island of Crete
Torneros de Jamuz, Spain
Duca, Croatia
A helicopter from Italy’s civil protection service drops water on a fire near the railway between Venice and Trieste
Residents take refuge on the beach as a wildfire burns on the mountain next to the village of Lithi, on the Greek island of Chios
Men gather cattle during a forest fire in Vieira de Leiria, Marinha Grande, Portugal.
Charred trees are seen on the hills above the Cloister of Thivaidas on Mount Athos, a World Heritage Site in Greece
Portugal
This is fucking important. I am glad someone fucking spoke about this and said what they had to say. The damage is terrible, and all the evergreen, stone, even the ground is black. I was fucking terrified when Croatia was burning. The fire was near a village where I like and I thought it will burn down. I thought the church will burn down. I thought the cemetery where my grandpa is buried will burn. I still remember the smell of smoke, and when I went to check how bad is fire, my clothes and hair and skin all stunk of smoke. It didn’t go away for weeks.
This is NASA’s picture of Croatia and Montenegro burning. My fucking country was burning. Fucking reblog this. I don’t care that it isn’t UK or US, or that it doesn’t go with your blog, fucking. Reblog. It.
Not my blog type, I dont care.
God please stay safe everyone, take care
A perfect example what is wrong with the media. I can’t recall hearing about it in the German news.
I had nightmares like this when I was little.
Dear gods this is horrible!
The world is on fire, literally and metaphorically.
Last year southern italy was literally burnt down and nobody cared. Even the fucking vesuvius and fucking positano were burning. So i’m reblogging the fuck out of this
that’s what happened to Spain last year. need to reblog
The bodies of 26 people in Greece were found huddled together on a field close to the beach. A woman who had made it to the water with her 3 Yr old told the press people were running from their cars towards the water, but the fire moved so quickly she knew many of the people behind her wouldn’t make it. She found the path to the beach, but those 26 people? They didn’t find the path in time. The terror they must have suffered in their last moments doesn’t bare thinking about, but at the same time we have to confront this. If we turn away, we are complicit. These aren’t entirely natural disasters after all, this is climate change in action. And it will continue to get worse.
I have heard about Greece but the others? Holy fuck, if you are from this area then please stay safe!
Heh, and I keep complaining about the rainy summers here in Austria…
K everyone reblog this, fuck “blog types”, a country is burning and we need to talk about this.
I literally didn’t have a clue this was happening - I haven’t seen any coverage of this from my news apps 😢
Vietnam’s Newly Opened Pedestrian Bridge Lifts Visitors with a Pair of Giant Weathered Hands
This is a fighting game stage
We think history is so far removed from us, but sometimes I’m reminded how very close we are to each other on the timeline.
My paternal grandfather was born in 1906 (I have older parents). He and my grandmother came through Ellis Island.
My vocal coach’s grandparents survived the 1906 San Fransisco earthquake and fire.
My great-grandfather lived to the age of 106. He often spoke of how strongly he remembered his nursemaid’s taffeta skirts rustling as she walked when he was a child. He was born in the 1870s. My grandmother recorded him on video in the 1980s talking about those Victorian bustle skirts he grew up with.
On my mother’s side, we tracked down a marriage record for her 17th-century English ancestors, their signatures still crystal-clear and confident on the yellowed parchment. The church where they were married still stands in London.
Samuel J. Seymour was born in 1860 and at age five, he witnessed the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Almost 100 years later, at age 96, he went on live television and recounted his firsthand account of the death of the president. You can watch the interview here.
The last survivor of the sinking of the Titanic, Millvina Dean, died in 2009.
The oldest person ever, Jeanne Calment, lived to age 122. She died in 1997 after recording a pop album, the same year The Spice Girls were topping the charts; but she remembered that as a child, Vincent Van Gogh once visited her father’s paint shop.
It’s easy to think of history as abstract, black and white, theoretical. But do some digging–you’ll probably find that it’s within arm’s reach.
Dude i got through all these but that last one fuck me up
Upcoming Star Wars fiction leans into the prequel era
The extended gap between movies sees Star Wars publishing reaching back to the prequel era for their most high profile SDCC announcements. Coming from Del Rey we have Master and Apprentice, a Qui-gon and Obi-wan novel from Claudia Gray (Bloodline, Princess of Alderaan). And from Disney-Lucasfilm Press there’s the long-rumored Padme novel, Queen’s Shadow by E.K. Johnston (Ahsoka).
The Padme cover is by Tara Phillips, who editor Jen Heddle says she “found on Deviant Art.” Both books will be out in early 2019 and up for pre-order soon: Master and Apprentice in February, and Queen’s Shadow in March.

Seventeen years ago, ice rinks in Kazakhstan were only opened in the winter, because they were all outdoors. And let me tell you, it gets pretty cold in Kazakhstan in the winter. That’s one reason why we have lots and lots of real snow. Eventually, the first shopping mall in Kazakhstan was built, and included an indoor skating rink. For the first time, we didn’t have to wear snowsuits to practice ice skating. In those first years, I didn’t even have competition ice skates. I had a pair of old side skates with no support at all for jumps. To make them better, my Dad cut plastic water bottles in half, and attached them to each side so I could actually do jumps. Then, at age 8, I attended my first international competition in Omsk, Russia. It took us 3 days to get there by train. I was still wearing my plastic water bottle skates, I trained in a shopping mall, and I had little to no professional coaching. Yet, there I was competing in the qualifying round. I remember being amazed to even be there. But I also remember being ashamed of my skates, compared to the Russian kids’ skates. And guess what? I won the competition, and the rest as they say is history. This is a long way to explain why Almaty 2022 is important to me and for Kazakhstan. Today is not seventeen years ago, but we still need better resources to develop our young athletes. So, why am I telling you all of this? Why is my story important? It is important because it is a real example of what our country can achieve in winter sports and what the whole region is capable of if we have the right resources and opportunities. That is the reason I agreed to participate in this campaign. I am not here for myself. I’m already living my Olympic dream. I am here for thousands of young Kazakh athletes dreaming their own Olympic dreams. And I am also here for that little kid out there, alone, skating around somewhere on a frozen lake, with skates supported by plastic water bottles.

Star Wars Rebels in Rogue One: General Hera Syndulla, Chopper & the Ghost
The Clone Wars is coming back for a twelve episode final run, Dave Filoni announced Thursday at San Diego Comic-Con. The new episodes will air on Disney’s upcoming streaming service.
“I honestly didn’t think we would ever have the opportunity to return to The Clone Wars,” says Filoni in a statement. “Thanks to the relentless fan support and the team behind Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming service, we will now get to tell more of those stories. We feel a tremendous responsibility to make something that lives up to the legacy that George Lucas created with the original series and I think our team, many of whom worked on the show from the beginning, has risen to the challenge.”
The Clone Wars ran for six seasons between 2008 and 2013, mostly on Cartoon Network.
Padme on Batuu from THRAWN: ALLIANCES (art by Darren Tan)
An excellent thread with likes and retweets from both Rian Johnson and Pablo Hidalgo. I don’t have much to add here except to say it’s an excellent thread, and it’s simply mindboggling that there are people who have willfully misread this story and its characters for so long.
