An apology
I’m little late to this since I quit tumblr not so long ago, but the situation revolving around my reblog of a fic which centers around pedophilia has been brought to my attention. To be honest, I was tempted not to say anything because it would have been easier to just let this die down than to wade back into tumblr, but that would make what I’ve done worse, and I owe it to you all to say a few things.
1) I would like to publicly apologize to any csa survivors in this fandom for promoting something with a pedophilic message and appearing to support pedophilia. I am incredibly sorry. I know that doesn’t fix anything, but I need you to know that.
2) My reasons for reblogging aren’t the point and I won’t get into that because I don’t want to detract from the real issue, but I did not reblog that post because I enjoy or support pedophilia. In fact, I want to be painfully clear that I am anti-pedophilia and I stand by csa survivors, always.
3) I would also like to apologize to those in the fandom who have brought this to my and others’ attention. It shouldn’t be your job to keep me accountable. I am trying to do a better job of policing and educating myself, but sometimes I fail. I take full responsibility for the mistakes I’ve made.
4) Please, if I ever do anything that offends or harms yourself or others, let me know. One of the reasons I am so late to address/rectify this is that I was unaware. I check tumblr only for messages, and that is rare. If I had known about this situation earlier, I would have addressed it earlier. My silence on the subject has not been an attempt to ignore it or to slide by without taking responsibility.
At the end of the day, all I can say is that I am so incredibly sorry. I hope you can forgive me, and if there’s anything I can do to help rectify my actions, please let me know.
Like I’ve said in my previous post, I’m leaving tumblr, but I check it every once in a while for messages, so if you need to say anything to me, feel free. Thank you for understanding.
