Rumpistol

Official press text: ”Rum” is the Danish word for space or room. Since 2003 Jens B. Christiansen has been producing challenging yet melodic electronic music under the moniker Rumpistol, so far resulting in 4 albums, 2 EPs plus lots of remixes of acts like Efterklang, System, Analogik & Blue Foundation. Rumpistol has performed his detailed signature sound at festivals and venues all across Europe, North America, Mexico, China and Russia. He has created game and tv scores, live soundtracks and appeared in various improvised setups and constellations with artists such as Red Baron, F.S. Blumm & Kohei Matsunaga. In 2010 he was nominated for the Qwartz Electronic Music Award in the Discovery category for his album “Dynamo” and in 2012 he released the album “Floating” – a widely acclaimed collaboration with the Danish vocalist Red Baron that further explored the post dub-step vocal territories opened up on 2011’s Talk To You EP. With tighter song structures, intimate lyrics and the Baron’s ecstatic vocal projections, the two create a parallel world in which the domestic breakdowns of wintry Copenhagen are filtered through surreal sun-bleached Californian dreams, resulting in a robotic and hypnagogic hybrid of electronic soul. Since 2003 Jens B. Christiansen has run the label Rump Recordings, showcasing mainly Danish electronic artists through a release span of more than 20 albums. Rumpistol is currently signed to the renowned Berlin-based label Project: Mooncircle that also houses artists like Robot Koch (DE), fLako (DE) & Sweatson Klank (US).

Moscow Calling! This week we'll be premiering the "Floating A/V Show" in 3D at the Circle of Light Festival in Russia.

It takes place at Сквер ЦДХ aka The Central House of Artists on Saturday the 29th of Setember: 29 сентября, суббота / 21:00 - Крымская наб., 10 - Вход свободный.

Circle of Light Festival is a festival for light installations, visuals & multimedia, and the promoter has promised 3D glasses for everyone, which I think will also look pretty interesting from our point of view!

REMIXED & RE-IMAGINED - Ornette Coleman's "The Shape of Jazz to Come" - Sept. 13th at CPH JAZZHOUSE 22.00-00.00.

Colemans's timeless album will be interpreted by Thomas Knak, August Engkilde, Dodebum and me as part of Golden Days 2012 & Avantgarde Evenings.

STRØM is happening all over Copenhagen this week!

If I can get out of the studio, I'm hoping to catch acts like LV feat. Joshua Idehen, Emika, Ceephax Acid Crew, Kenton Slash Demon, Clouds, and a talk from Danish electronica's grand old lady Else Marie Pade.

I'm playing a short solo set on Sunday the 26th, which is the last day of the festival.

It will be during the 4 Hour Festival at Den Røde Plads (v. Nørrebrohallen), Nørrebro, - an event that starts 10.30 and lasts untill 14.30, after which the giant Roller Disco will take over bizniz and end the festival in what they call an all-out-disco-boogie-love-roll-around-happy-family-frenzy. 

I'm on from 13.25 and before me is none other than the great DNTEL (US) plus local acts Kiloton, Claus Poulsen, SØS Gunver Ryberg & Mikkel Meyer.

It's full moon tonight and I've been invited by CINEMATEKET aka The Danish Film Institute to do a 3-hour dj set at 6 pm before the free outdoor screening of Duncan Jones "Moon" from 2009 and George Méliès silent classic from 1902 "Le Voyage Dans la Lune" - featuring the new soundtrack from Air.

The weather forecast promises no rain and around 19 degrees celsius!
