How more blatant does this man have to get
I'm a slow listener, and my immediate favourite is We Two. I've played it about twenty times already and cried tears all over the place while listening to it. Oh, and I LOVE the sound of the tape rewind! It takes me right back to the VHS days.
from 2026-05-26 NYTimes article:
McCartney revisited his old studio methods while making the new album. During one corporate reorganization of EMI, the Beatles’ longtime label, its accountants decided to sell off equipment from its Abbey Road studio. McCartney bought many of the instruments, among them the Mellotron he used on “Strawberry Fields,” the spinet piano he played on “Because” and a four-track Studer tape recorder which may have been the one used to record “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” though McCartney has been unable to document whether it’s the exact machine.
He still uses the vintage gear. One new track, “We Two” — a fond song about love, partnership and mutual support and respect — was entirely recorded to tape on the Studer.

As You Lie There — there’s a special production trick there, or at least I think so, that makes me love opening tracks on so many albums. The contrast between the intro and the rest of the song reminds me of Wide Prairie, sung by Linda, and I love how that song opens with Linda’s story and Paul’s flirty “Have you got a light?” So the opening of As You Lie There made me think of that song too.
And I love Paul’s harsh voice, and there’s a lot of it here! Especially that final “aaaAAAh!” teleporting straight into my brain before the calm finish.
Days We Left Behind already feels like home.
Salesman Saint and Momma Gets By — too many emotions. “Momma” feels like heart surgery without anesthesia.
song Momma Gets By wrecked me
always, always, my friend, you'll be my only one last night i dreamed of you and what all we could do together side by side we two can do whatever we decide is right
we wanna live for love like other people do over, over again i'll be in love with you

Does anyone have any information about this photo? (Reverse image search told me it was Richard Beymer and Millie Perkins in a scene from the 1959 film The Diary of Anne Frank. And when I added "Paul McCartney" it told me that's probably Jane Asher.)
It looks like stage lighting to me, so it's possible the school did a version of Anne Frank? But I've never heard of Paul being in such a production.
(The girl has a pochard on her head in the collage, which probably doesn't help, but interests me.)

OMG
I think it's Mr Brierly!!!!
The top image is a screenshot from Paul's recent SNL performance of DWLB. I've been going through it, noting the images that appear on the screen behind him, and was about to mark this one as image number 006 when I spotted the hands on hips.
at 5:49 ! and later he talks about this photo

Btw I just recalled that Paul Mescal actually read Ian Leslie's book. I wonder if he was thinking about it when he was formulating the question at the beginning. You can see him hesitate a bit.
