❛ Don’t be, I’m sure you’re right. ❜ Abigail flicks the ash at the end of her cigarette toward the pavement, well away from where the woman’s standing. She doesn’t look particularly offended, seems to shrug the words off with as little thought as Willow had put into saying them.

Opening the packet of cigarettes, she offers them up, decides she’ll look a little less miserable if she isn’t sitting on the side of the street smoking alone.

She’d shouted at a store clerk. Hadn’t meant to , had hardly realised what was going on until some tall man in black grabbed her by the elbow and ushered her out of the shop. Abigail can’t even remember what it was she’d been shouting about --- the lady had struck a chord, somehow, pressed a button she couldn’t have known was there. So, here she sits, on the cold pavement outside an apartment building a few doors down, three cigarettes into a new packet with no real intention to put it away any time soon.
