she’s been babbling, gesticulating wildly, for the last few minutes, about an article she read in some medical journal. innovative, incredible, the future of medicine -- she seems so intrigued by it, recounting it to Adam in miraculous detail. so fixated, she leaves those emotions stirring within her chest to fester -- she’ll ignore them until she can do so no longer.
at six this morning, she’d made up her mind, packed an overnight bag and made scrambled eggs while she waited for Adam to wake. bright and early, the cogs of her mind turning rapidly, deciding that she must act very quickly, lest she go back on her decision. now, in the cab taking them from the airport to her parents’ house, she pretends that’s not where they’re going -- from the look of her, the destination doesn’t matter in the slightest.
