Zero Two was experimented on, tortured throughout her childhood. She must have gone through rounds of tests and pain for years, not understanding why they did those things to her. She was treated as an object and nothing more.
Her one bright moment in her miserable life had been when Hiro rescued her out of the facility. We never saw what happened to her after she was captured. Presumably suffering more tests under Dr. Franxx.
She grew up without morals or empathy. No one was there to teach her, lead her and guide her throughout. No one told her they loved her or even showed that they care. She was in and out of labs, she was an experiment, who the hell had time to teach her, to tell her things or even comfort her? No one ever told her what she did was wrong, no one bothered to correct her behavior. If she disobeyed, she was chased and tranquilized.
She learned from observations and listening, she picked up on the adults’ habits and attitudes.She built a wall up around herself, letting no one in, to shield herself against hurt.
She had no one in her goddamn life. She had no one to trust and people don’t even treat her like she was human. Yes, she killed people, yes, she did bad things and yes, she has shitty attitude but look at it from her view, of someone who isn’t even remotely human or understand human feelings who grew up without any guidance.
No one hates her more than she hates herself. She hates herself enough.
